I guess the difference between 1999 killua and 2011 killua is that in 1999, he is drawn to be scarier than in 2011. Because in 1999, he is more playful in fighting, which in 2011, he is more intimidating. It's as if telling his opponents that despite not being serious, he can defeat them; drawing the opponent's fear within the uncertainty. While in 2011, he immediately imposed the fear the moment they approached, already posing his capabilities in the open, which seems limitless in the 1999 one. Well, in general, the 1999 one has created a better job in building the characters, which would have been amazing if killua's development was shown in there, but sadly, it was still not available then. Nevertheless, I also think that the 2011 version is also amazing in itself, for there are a lot of upgrades done in the 2011 which made the anime better, but in terms of characterization, I personally think the 1999 one is better.

It was kind of close, but after a few rewatches I think I like the 1999 version of the scene better overall. Honestly, though similar, they're like 2 different characters in this comparison/scene (this made it a lot harder for me to pick a favorite). Each version gives off a different vibe. Overall, I just like the delivery of the 1999 version a bit more than the 2011 version.
