Killing Weeds The Fun Way - Propane Hand Torch - Burning Weeds On Pavers, Sidewalk, Tennis Court

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I show how a propane hand torch works and how to use it in a few situations around my property including pavers, concrete sidewalk, asphalt tennis court, etc. I show the before and after using the torch to take out weeds. These torches can also melt ice/snow and be used for roofing and asphalt repairs.

Check your local fire ordnances. I bought one at Harbor Freight and was using it for the first time. A "neighbor" called the local HOA and said I was using a flame thrower. The local fire department showed up a told me that out side burning was prohibited within the city limits.

@@kenthaunschild2267 😆 gotta love over reaching regs. We don't have those rules around here. Or a neighbor in sight.

I always get weird looks from my neighbors when I use mine to nuke the weeds in my front yard.

I thought you were supposed to adjust the propane so that the flame is light blue. I think they way you wouldn't get as much fire and the black burn marks. Learning to do this myself as I got two different sizes for Christmas and can't wait to try them.

I don't think there is a way to avoid some black marks but they go away after a few days. Enjoy your new tool!

Can I ask…on your tennis court-I have the same thing where the weeds have grown through the cement/asphalt-do you do something additional to fix those cracks? I’ve tried numerous things and they keep coming back and I have yet to find advise on tennis courts specifically.

I'm actually looking for reasonable quotes to get it resurfaced. They would fill the cracks with an epoxy mix but even so its an annual caulk maintenance to keep them from growing again.

What camera are you using to shoot these videos? Your weed burner is an upgrade from my el-cheapo one, time to trade up for more power :)

I typically use a GoPro Hero9 with media mod kit. I also have a hero 8 with an external mic that is used fairly often (and several older cams for more angles). You'll also see my DJI Mavic Air 2 footage at times.

If I time it at the right in the spring it can last thru the summer before new weeds start to get established in the fall. So 2x a year roughly.

The black burn marks go away after a few days. However I've now learned if you dont burn the weed/grass to a crisp it will sprout a new blade and regrow quickly.

Hey Nate my wife is pissed at me now. I killed all the weeds and now I have a brown and black lawn. lol Also another thing I do here is use crushed rock salt. Spread it on the pavers and use a broom to move it to the cracks. After watering it or a rain the weeds and grass are gone until next year. But salt can damage concrete to a small extent. And I was going to tell you that last week I bought a new tractor. A Massey Ferguson 2850E. 50HP with a bucket on front. My old Kubota only has 450 hours but is too small for land clearing.... Cheer Mate..

Dave, good idea on the rock salt! My neighbor has a MF tractor and loves it, says they never go to the shop for repairs. Congrats and enjoy it!

@@NaterTater just got a torch like yours they’re freakin awesome! If you want year long weed control there are also a few herbicides that can do the job: pramitol or imazapyr both non selective kills everything and will bind to the soil sterilizing it for up to a year. Also pre emergents like dimension or barricade but their control is only like 90 days and only for stuff that hasn’t sprouted yet
