I love how dan's exit is framed. Even though he's gone through his own personal arc and gotten revenge while spouting one liners just like he's always wanted to, his victory is ultimately kind of pyrrhic. You expect him to just walk away like a badass, but then it cuts to the bodies. Dan is too late to stop the terrible things blackburn has done, and he's reminded of that a final time before he leaves.

Yeah I just only played through the first chapter on the Steam version but I'm looking forward to when I get to the third chapter in which Curtis is your target. Fun fact Curtis is voiced by the same guy who voiced Armstrong from Metal Gear Rising and Mmir from God of War 2018.

@@matthewbuckley7757 Wait, what? Curtis and Armstrong have the same voice? That's actually surprising, tbh. Curtis is so calm and menacing, while Armstrong is energetic and passionate- like, the two are so different.

3:05 The way Dan verbally cuts down everything Curtis said is so badass. That man doesn’t deserve any sort of redemption, and Dan knew that.

Dan knew him better than anyone else given that Curtis was once his mentor. He always knew he was a real bastard but finally saw just how monstrous he truly was. Like you said, he wasn’t going to give him any satisfaction as he put him down like the sick dog he had become.

@@JohnPerry27 Oh, absolutely. Curtis may have been a complete monster but Dan looked up to him regardless for being excellent at his job as an assassin.

@@MrSoopSA Well there's that, but I presume there's more. Dan, Curtis, and Pedro were dirty cops (interesting enough, Curtis and Pedro were specifically stated to be part of the criminal underground whereas it was mentioned that Dan took out gangsters, implying he might have taken his job seriously). This is all speculation but I assume Dan looked up to Curtis because he was the one to give him power and respect when no one else did.

I do like how during the "stand off" phase where they should be preparing for the bird to fly, Dan is visibly bored and checking his gun/looking at the ground, disinterested in the challenge

Just finished this chapter literally an hour ago and fucks sake nothing has ever made me nearly piss myself more than this. Fuck. What an amazing game

The bosses of this game are so boring on paper but the game manages to capture some great artful minimalism and make pretty much endless novelty out of what it has.

Agreed. This game is kind of a fore runner to the movie Only God Forgives. Also the reversal of comedic tone between the last and first cutscene.

Anyone who played the original game cube game: do the cutscenes look sped up to you? Maybe missing a a kind of grain the original had.

That animation Dan has fucks with me. I know it's his idle animation that plays when he stands still for too long, but I keep thinking he's readying his aim, and Curtis will respond by immediately opening fire.

Dan's trigger discipline is to be praised.

That is one cool gun that Dan has.

Curtis looks like George Harvey from Lovely Bones which makes it even more disturbing, In fact I think both Curtis and George are in my opinion one of the most disgusting and vile villains in fiction.

Can someone help me with this fight? I am playing this on PC, default settings/keyboard and I just want to know 1 thing. When you shoot Curtis do you just aim and shoot or do you have to press scan or reload before you can take a shot? I keep doing it correctly and for some reason Dan doesn't shoot and I get shot.

you just aim and shoot also you need to wait for the pidgeon to fly for you to be able to successfully hit curtis

@@luizfilipern Ah I get it now, I thank you very much. I wasn't sure if Dan wasn't firing because I did something wrong but it turns out my steam copy was glitched or something. For some reason, during the fight my gun refused to fire with the default button so I went into settings and reassigned the shoot button to a different key and it worked. I died so many times before I was able to fix this. Anyways ill keep this thread alive so maybe others can fix it if they have that problem. Thanks again.

@@JuanJimenez-pt3dn just so you know there's zero chance of someone's "Steam copy" being glitched as it's digital and not physical, unless it's the game itself or there's something off with your computer

The pigeon makes a noise before flying. If you try to aim and shoot when the pigeon isn't flying then Curtis will shoot you.
