My father was a prison guard assigned to Starkweather. And Starkweather liked to talk. I could tell you stories for days. However, Caril wasn’t the angel she appeared to be. For a young 14 year old, she certainly wasn’t shy about propositioning men from the window of her cell. My mother was an elementary teacher at this time, and before they were caught, parents were coming to school with rifles to get their kids. The entire town just shut down.

Thank you again, Jordan & Katie! I liked your video tonight because it tells the truth, honors the victims of this horrible monster of a person and hopefully dispels what has been shown in movies based on this story, that it was a romantic killing spree by two lovers. Thank God this horrible excuse of a human was caught, executed and removed from the earth, to spend eternity in Hell!

I do remember seeing an interview with a man whose father was a policeman or sheriff in the area, and went to school with Starkweather. His mother had charge of Fugate during her trial. She told her son that she thought she was a little monster too and helped manipulate starkweather into committing more murders as well as helping herself.

Horribly, these types of personalities do inhabit our world. Starkweather was a classic, full-blown psychopath...no remorse, no conscience, no respect for human or animal life. Ted Bundy was another psychopath as was Charles Manson. Not all classic psychopaths are murderers, but they still aren't people you'd want to run into on a dark night.
