Problem is that is what most black use because it is what they can afford. We know all to well the bias black folks face in health care, so nobody who regulating anything gone care much and black end up doing what they have to just to get by and provide something. Its why reparations is needed.

I refuse to take my parents to a facility because you never know who is taking care of your parents. I'm five years in taking care of my mom and dad at home. Many of my parents friends got sick after them. Their children chose to put them in a facility and they are "dead". Not alive. My parents are vibrant, clean, and well kept. Please figure out how to keep your parents home. I beg you to keep your parents.😢😢😢

@@SheliaPreacher I am a CNA here in Dallas & I agree with you! I was my Mother’s caretaker, until she needed to go to rehab…2 weeks there and Mom caught COVD & she was placed on ventilator!!!! Unfortunately, Gov Hot Wheels Abbot had restricted trach/vent care at home! Every day, I think about my Mom!

I work in a facility and sadly it's very common one time we received a call from a residents loved one really said I wanted to call him bcuz hes been on my mind I haven't spoken to him in four yrs smh . They spoke to him on the phone actually visited one day and that was it never to be heard from again it piss me off how these families abandon their loved ones. Another resident was sick so we had to notify her mother of it and that she was admitted to the hospital the mother replied with don't call me unless she's dead mind u the mother had 8 children 4 of them were in facilities and she never came to visit the one we housed . I dont get how ppl can be so cruel to their own family especially those who are disabled,elderly or going through mental illness

7 months! I would have visited him after a week of not hearing from my loved one. Just heartbreaking 😮😢

Take care of your elderly love ones yourself! I will never be too busy for my momma!

If the care home has MORE THAN 3 residents, providing skilled care, the owner DOES NOT RESIDE there then the state will require certification AND safety inspections…. which requires LOTS OF MONEY & most of these care home owners are greedy (such as her) & they’re not concerned about the welfare/safety of the residents, nor the time & wages for their caregivers!

I’m so grateful that my son and his wife built a new barn on their little farm and installed an efficiency/handicapped accessible apartment in the new building. And they invited me to live with them on the farm. I have grandchildren, dogs and home cooked meals whenever I want them. I am the luckiest man alive! Dallas resident here! My cousin worked for this lady at one of her homes! She was not only horrible to her residents, but she was horrible to her caregivers! My cousin had complained many of days, about her either HALF or NOT PAYING them for hours worked! Summer 2022, my cousin had to threaten to assault her for not paying her full wages! She eventually paid her & my cousin quit working for her! This lady would keep the residents’ cars & let HER FAMILY MEMBERS drive them! YES…she would indeed MOVE her residents to HIDE them from the state, whenever they’d do their inspections! She hired her aunts who WERE NOT YET LICENSED to administer medication! She isn’t alone! There are MORE UNLICENSED group home owners that are operating these homes! In TX you don’t have to have a license ONLY IF YOU: a). Have 3 residents b). Are not PROVIDING SKILLED CARE c). If you LIVE THERE If you have MORE than 3 residents/ provide SKILLED NURSING CARE/ DO NOT LIVE in the home, then you MUST provide a license AND your home MUST BE COMPLIANT within the state guidelines!

I noticed every time I go there to do showers, a maintenance man (his Dad) was watching EVERYTHING that I & the other caregivers did! One of the young ladies was crying & I went to console her! She was the one who told me what was going on in that house! The next day, the agency told me that I was TERMINATED!! I already knew why! The young lady & other house girls walked out that morning & she texted me & told me what happened…

Regular checkups. You have to visit regularly. Look at medical records. Attend focus meetings. Ask staff questions like blood pressure, weight. Family participation is crucial.

I live in Fort Worth Tx and I am near Arlington Tx It's the next town over. I have worked for a company called " ResCare" and it is a Health Care Facility for The Special Needs Clients of Tarrant County. These types of Facilities are Not Always Safe because at ResCare people can Basically walk into the houses without ANY IDENTIFICATION. As long as someone comes to relieve the person at the home they don't care or check to see if you are "Right person in the Home" ResCare has homes all Over Arlington and Out of State as well.

This doesn't surprise me at all. In fact, it angers me! How was it this so-called woman got away with this for so long. Throw her and anyone else involved under the jail!In many states, you can provide care without a license. There's certain criteria to this. That being the case, the state had an obligation to do a monthly audit of these places. Social workers will often find placement for clients without checking credentials. The system is terrible. Most states are backlogged. Some of these social works will write anything down to keep up with audit, which is wrong! Falsified documentation is a felony in all states. I've seen it. I've had to pull families to the side and educate them on things and open their eyes. Often times what you see truly isn't what it is. This is horrible! Prayers to the families and the patients. 😔

The only reason she got caught was due to the family not the cops.

And this is one of the many reasons why I did NOT bring my father to Texas for nursing care. I saw so much dereliction of proper protocol and attitudes that did not indicate anything good. I flew and drove back and forth to my home state where my dad lived. I wasn't that pleased with the facility he was in but it was where friends could visit. The facilities I visited were considered above average and were not inexpensive by any stretch. This is so sad and horrific. And, yes, I looked at care facilities in Arlington and other areas close by.

My mother flew from NY to Alabama when one of my uncles was in a care home. He was not being taken care of, as most in that ward weren't. My mom removed her brother from that home and had him come back with her to ny, until he passed. Unfortunately, many caretakers are not observed for differences in their own behaviors, while they are responsible for the lives of others. And things like this happen, all over the country.

My mother in law was in hospice and her first night there, the head nurse told her she wasn't there to be comfortable- she's just there to die. And she did before the end of the week. But that was who was there taking care of her. I would be scared to death. We reported it and the night shift Knew who said it, but first shift was shocked and surprised.
