Thank you for sharing. I did not know my family, I was adopted out into a white family when I was 3 days old. My Grandmother and Great Grandmother went to boarding schools. They, along with my birth Mother have all passed now, I never got to meet any of them once I finally found them. I pray for your family, and all like us whose family members were taken from their homes, and raised to be "white" not Indian.

I have heard horrible stories from relatives, and I still wonder why the boarding school still exists when all it stands for to me, is rape, murder and injustice to our native ancestors. I keep praying that they demolish the school and let the community heal.

I really think you should write a book about this. Your poem would be a powerful beginning to telling the story of the wrongs of the indian boarding schools. Here is a super example of a 13 year old girl, Annica Benning, wanted to share her interest in Arizona Native American art and culture with other young people. The governor of Arizona gave every fourth grader in the state her book in 2010. Benning, A. (2009). Arizona: nations and art. U.S.A: Walnut Canyon Press.

Message to Badwolf73. I am in the same boat as you, My mother was NDN but she was ashamed of it....when I was very young she would speak of good things but as I got older and older...she became less and less NDN until it was all gone. She even bleached her dark brown hair because well, blonds have more fun....I am now doing what I can to discover my Algonquin heritage..but there is little. I am around a few Lakota and a few Wiyot. Those are the ones I am learning from..and all I can find online.

Long time ago best we forget the genocide best we not go there it only makes the suffering longer and those that languish in it that much harder to overcome it. many cannot learn to love because they are not strong enough many cannot forgive for they are too weak to forgive. They turn to self destruction and that is why this story is best forgotten. For the self destruction of the Native Indians of North America is an epidemic and these stories only serve to destroy more minds.

“The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles.” -Marx 1848 I would like to believe that more people are learning that history really is written by the ruling class, the conqueror, and the poor and conquered are always enslaved in some way. Slavery = conformity. We are all killers, lovers, or even rulers if the circle requires it and the cycle of nature goes on and on. Marx only said what most of us now know to be the truth.

Translate this completely to all languages of the world so that everyone knows what has happened in the American continents since Christopher. The gun culture and weaponisation of Europe since Nepolean times spread to every part of the world threatening peace on the. When did exact date the natives of United States of America accorded equal citizenship rights, voting rights and protective rights. The natives should have pushed them back to Europe and then the world would have been in peace now.

  • @randy95023

Continued: Native Americans were treated horribly and their situation was basically hopeless. Any chance of survival would have only been possible by accepting Christianity and offering themselves as basically "peasant laborers". Sounds unfair? Yep, but who in the hell ever told you the world was "fair"? Talk to Africans, Asians and Pacific Islanders and ask them how it went when a superior culture planted the various flags of Europe on THEIR land. Same sad story with only minor variations.

The American Natives got screwed really bad. However, you can NOT put 20th century standards on the expanding Empires of the 15th century. When the Europeans "discovered" the Americas they found people that were extremely primitive. Few, if any used any type of written language or for that matter even used the wheel! Basically stone age man faced a culture that had already entered well beyond the iron age. Native Americans were treated more like raccoons or other "less than human" species.
