Thank God we sold our house(12years ago) in those areas for a proper price and bought land in kirinyaga...while I relocated abroad, my sisters once in a while pass by our old neighbourhood and can't believe how the place has changed...for the worse

In Kenya we react instead of plan. The signs have been there for the longest time. But as long as a paycheck is coming and there is running water, no one leaves. Afterall, surrounding pubs keep all numb to whats going on. A serious person already left. Just like Karen, wazungu walihepa to Nanyuki and others long before the dramas

The UN Habitat calls estates like Pipeline 'Vertical Slums' i.e. slums on 'high heels'. Such houses are found in countries like Bangladesh,India,China,Philipines and Colombia.

This is similar to the reason why everyone remembers Michuki fondly. He is the one who changed public vehicles from packing humans like sardines into more spacious dignified vehicles. Someone needs to do something about buildings too.

I currently live in Lavington. This noises are coming from disgruntled landlords who have been charging an arm and a leg for old colonial houses. We cannot afford to have these estates being low density areas. The high rise buildings are very necessary. You cant be living in ruai and working in Kenyatta hospital. We need affordable houses around the CBD.

It's a big problem having uncontrolled high rise building. Sakaja land scarcity issue is a poor excuse.... Not everyone has to live within Nairobi!... People can live on the outskirts of Nairobi and have good public infrastructure connection with Nairobi. Having such big developments 30 - 75 floors on quarter acres of land which used to have one single dwelling housing unit is a tragedy! Sakaja must be serious and involve professionals in the planning of Nairobi developments, Sakaja is a layman in matters town planning.

Problem is not high rise building, planning ad maximum floors per area is an issue need to be considered. County pass law if its 8 th floors anyone need develop must reach tht height not more than tht but it can be slightly less as per house plan. Architects need bench marking tour to middle east countries to learn abt building code.

Nairobi was doing well until when Kikuyus lost grip on its running and politics. According to my sincere observation, they and the Asians are the only group who have a genuine interest in how Nairobi runs.Other groups have no sense of loss if the City looses direction and order. The Kikuyus and Asians are mostly the landlords and also the majority of 'useful';tenants in the city. They have everything to loose if they allow chaos.

@nickngunjiri4282 they are big men cos mostly they grab Kikuyu plots in Eastleigh,South B and C and then they build flats with dirty money from Magendo trade mostly from the horn of Africa and other diaspora. They are mostly to blame for the disorder in the real estate sector. But Kikuyus are still very very dominant in every sector including the real estate.

@@TheRonoTV2024 You are still spewing nonsense. How on earth did you come to that conclusion? You can only buy what someone is willing to sell. And, Kenya doesn't belong to one tribe. Kikuyu politicians have looted the country for decades. And, the other Kenyan tribes aren't blaming every single Kikuyu person. Stop runting aimlessly about what kikuyus should've or not. Get your paper up. No wealthy Kikuyu person will feed you just because you are their tribesmen. You should have learned that by now with how the wealthiest men from tribe having been behaving. You clearly have a low self-esteem. Don't lift your pride with someone's else wealth. Work only on improving your own livelihood.
