I know that the message of the song is up for debate, but hear me out. I think this song is about soldiers coming home from the battlefield and experiencing post tramatic stress disorder. The bone cracking sounds could be a reference to bombs or limbs being amputated with saws while the hotel itself is an analogy of suicide or trauma. The toy sounds in the background is a reference to the soldiers wanting to return to their childhood days, were everything was simpler. Just a thought.

I think one thing that actually supports that claim is the sound of children cheering at the start of the song.

I think your theory is great, but it’s missing one thing. I don’t think the soldiers return from war. The Star Inn is where they go to die. “A dream Inn that only your heart can see” refers to the Inn being a magical place that not many people can enter. “You’ll probably come very soon” leads me to believe that the Inn predicts when soldiers will die and sends a hare to lure them towards the Inn in their final moments. I believe the Star Inn appears while the soldiers are dying on the battlefield. They wish to pretend they were a child for one more night before passing on, hence “wearing clothes of an infant at 2 in the morning.” This is both a curse and a blessing, given how they’re able to live out their wish of being a child again while also dying. This is why it’s referred to as “Hell’s Inn” despite being described as a lovely place. That’s just my two cents.

I think it's pretty clear that this song has been talking about death and actually not anything else. It's probably how the term Yomi no Yado got translated into "Hell Inn" that made people think it could be something else, in reality, it should be "Hotel of the Dead" or "Underworld Hotel" as Yomi means the land of the dead (or sometimes used to refer to the death itself) in Japanese. Their real term for "Hell" is Jigoku

Yay, thanks for letting me know! Now I know when I get heated in the comments I can simply just say “I hope you go to jigoku” and hope to God that the person doesn’t know Japanese /is from Japan.

This is just my interpretation on the song, but isn't the inn supposedly death? The inn makes itself sound like it's heavenly and peaceful in order to beckon over those who want to die, such as people who have suicidal tendencies and are tired of the pain being alive gives them. Those who died in combat (like the soldiers mentioned) "sit down quietly to rest at the place they disappear", meaning they die and then sleep forever in the star inn. When people do come to the inn, they can't feel anything such as pain or happiness, and all they can feel is an urge to sleep, making the atmosphere lonesome (as no one desires to interact, just sleep) and gloomy (as there is no happiness). The song ends with "we're always preparing for your arrival", as people literally can die at any time, which will inevitably take them to the inn to sleep forever and feel nothing.

Comment section's dead but I wanna point out something important I noticed. The song makes a reference to the hour of the ox, 丑の刻 ushi no koku, which is around 1 am to 3 am in an old way of telling the time which used the chinese zodiac. The significance of this is of course, somewhat of a parallel to the "witching hour" in the west. Certain ritual curses require them to be cast during the ox hour, which of course makes this specific time of the night a haunted and cursed time frame. Now I am unfortunately not exactly sure what the symbolism of wearing newborn's clothes during the Ox hour could mean. But it definitely makes allusion to very ancient occult practices in japan.

    1. Look back at your life, take some emotions and thoughts from within. 2. Learn Music Theory to make your song more cohesive, yet take large liberties and experiment with your craft. It is yours after all. 3. Take a look into manipulating Vocaloid tones, aim for your best as all want to, but take it your own way if you wish. 4. Make some songs using the knowledge you've acquired, take inspiration from some aspect of your life or a concern or interest you have, and learn from the feedback given. Refine your craft like Kikuo has. 5. Congratulations, you've made your own style, and made some songs along with it!

I thinks this is about a beautiful and amazing inn turns into a terrible, hellish inn. It lies when you got inside of the Star inn to trap people who are the customers of the inn and letting them being eaten at night(as you can hear the munching music), and trap them into the hell's hole or in the underworld. This is what I understand about this song

I believe this song is about a time in which there’s a huge war going on....which would explain the extremely high numbers of death Miku mentions (also explains the mentions of soldiers.) Due to the war, many die and many others fall into a deep depression or loneliness without their loved ones. Miku (who I assume is some sort of devil or undertaker) beckons them and the soldiers to come and stay at the inn (the afterlife) because they will feel no more pain and sorrow. The flowers in the south, with tears on them are assumably we’re earth ends and the afterlife begins (flowers are left at graves and people shed tears to mourn loss.) Since everyone dies, Miku tells them that “we’re always waiting for your arrival” giving them more of a reason to just give in. The reason I think Miku calls it hell and not heaven or even the afterlife is because, although there is no bitterness and grief, there is also no happiness since all the dead do is sleep.

I ran this through a translator and this was the translator Battle tired soldiers sit quietly A place to rest and disappear Clouds are coming down It's been over two hundred million years. The field rabbit who was chased Now once in a house of stars and stars The entrance is off the corner there Because hot spring bathing from the moon I can't go home until I get down Here is a world where all the priests dream Welcome to Yakushi and Yakuno Yado Time to wear production clothes Warm and friendly Oh sad creatures gather You know, Rakuten country neck pillow The south bouquet is blooming Decorate the raindrops of tears A thousand holes in the spring Ten thousand people swallow the country of Yellow You're quiet, but you're sad But I don't feel too bad Pop-like hole in the heart Even if I woke up, the southern traveler was I'll blow you down my god I won't stop forever Secret Treasure Map Road A dream house that only you can tell Dream fluffy fluffy dreaming Two hundred million years in a single sleep Here is a world where all the priests dream Welcome to Yakushi and Yakuno Yado Maybe it may have come near I am lonely but I do not suffer there Sad creatures gather You know, Rakuten country neck pillow This teardrop invitation card I am always ready to deliver ...

I want to say this tells the stories of two different people as examples of people at hell’s/star’s hole/inn. One is a soldier who has murdered people before for the justice, and the other an adventurer who has stolen treasure. I imagine this place seems to be all nice and happy, but is actually torturous. I’m not sure, but it’s interesting to think about though.

This is where soldiers tired of fighting take a seat Then rest and vanish The clouds have descended, all is hidden in fog Look, the moonlit nights have been peeled off Across two hundred million years Come, o' rabbit that was pursued Come at least once to the Star Inn The entrance is just down the corner A hot spring is gushing from the moon So descend until you can’t go back This is the inn dreamed of by all creation and humanity Welcome, come to Hell’s Inn Let’s wear a newborn’s clothes at 2am So warm, so tender Ah, sad beings are all gathering Look, here’s the neck pillow of paradise and heaven I’m making the southern bouquet bloom I adorn it with rain and dew formed from tears Hell’s hole holds a thousand people The realm of the dead swallows up ten thousand people See how quiet it is? Still, it’s sorrowful But it’s not that painful An air hole gapes in my heart Whether asleep or awake, the southern travellers Blow flutes made from pulled-out sacred trees They will play their music forevermore This is the path laid out in the secret treasure map I’ll tell only you about the Dream Inn Buoyant in a dream, you do not doubt even a little You lay sound asleep for two hundred million years This is the inn dreamed of by all creation and humanity Welcome, come to Hell’s Inn You’ve probably arrived nearby It’s a lonely place, but not so painful Ah, sad beings are all gathering Look, here’s the neck pillow of paradise and heaven A written invitation requests tears I can deliver it at any time I’m prepared

I think the song is about going out to bars at night, while everyone is in slutty clothes and drinking heavily, you also get invited to the hell's inn consisting of social games and insecureties. Once you're in you get addicted and never leave, the night seems forever. I could explain my theory with every line of the song but it's too much effort right now and idk if anyone is interested :P
