I think the phenomena of indigenous people recognising each other is because v often people outside of indigenous families or communities have this preconceived idea of what a first nations person should look like, whereas people in those families and communities who see each other all the time recognise the diversity of features but also the common denominators that give away that someone is NA. That's why people respond so weirdly about the tone of your skin being so fair, because they have expectations of what you should look like, meanwhile it's a pretty vast range of features including skintone within even non-mixed first nations people that they wouldn't expect. But the aunties will always clock you, know that!

The facial features thing is correct for other communities too. I am black, when I meet other black Americans they won't know I am first generation and that my parents are African immigrants. But somehow African's can always tell, ALWAYS, that I'm African. Sometimes they even correctly guess I'm Congolese. It's wild to me. I don't have an accent, don't dress differently...they always say it's my features. Guess it's just a sixth sense! haha

Ohhh yeah Tracy has like a sister and a military brother and she mentions them enough for me to remember and forget 😂

I sometimes forget that Trixie is literally half Indigenous Ojibwe because she is so light and doesn’t talk about her culture. I understand though. When you are half white or white passing and didn’t grow up surrounded by the culture, you don’t feel the same connections and you don’t experience the same struggles as those who appear “Native”. Plus, there is always the issue of people coming for you if you do try to claim it despite being white passing or half white. People don’t like when someone tries to claim their culture if they don’t inherently experience the struggles.

This video should be called “Tracy Martel interrupts her sister for 25 minutes and 55 seconds” 😂😂😂
