Kiev 16-U Soviet Lenses Review for the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera
This is a review of 3 Kiev 16-U Soviet lenses on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera.
Three lenses in this set are:
The Mir 11 - 12.5mm f2.2
The Vega 7 - 20mm f2
The Vega 9 - 50mm f2.1
The adapter that I mentioned can be found here: www.ebay.com.au/itm/Adapter-MICRO-4-3-BLACKMAGIC-GH4-BMCC-MFT-Mount-KRASNOGORSK-2-16-SP-Lens/372016504606?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

The set you are reviewing is the Krasnogorsk-2 set and not the Kiev-16u set. The Kiev-16u lenses you are talking aboit are much smaller, have clicked apertures and have a screw mount like a smaller version of the M42 mount. The Krasnogorsk-2 lenses are larger, have a longer focus throw, have a declicked aperture and use a two lug bayonet ttpe mount. Hope this helps and clears some things up

Thanks for that Paul. Yes I realised after that I was mistaken about which Lenses I had but it's good to hear about the differences between the set. Hope the video was still helpful in some way.
Thanks so much for a detailed review of these lenses along with the footage! I just ordered a set and while seeing other people's footage is helpful, it helped even more to hear about your experience using them. Great shots and hope you continue shooting great videos!

@@ithakamedia9050 I'm late to seeing your reply. But thank you! I have footage sitting in my hard drive and I love the look of them so far. I still come back to watch this video every now and then to hear you talk about them
Extension tubes can adjust your focus limits. They come in many sizes and when you find the right one, you are all set.
Would love to see the mount.
Any advice on focus rings?
Does these lenses have filter thread? Aperture ring is clickless in all of them?
if i use 12mm i have to crop in Bmpcc4k ?
Do you think this set could work with the BMPCC4K? Great video!

Thanks for your comment Jan. I haven't tested it on the Pocket 4k yet but it would make for a great video! In theory it should work but you will need to crop in as it wouldn't cover the full sensor for the 4K. Keep in a eye out as I'll make a video for this one.
hello! thanks for the video. did you color grade the footage?

Yes, I certainly did. From memory, I believe it was done in Premiere Pro, however now I would most certainly grade it in Resolve.
hey man!, love your vid! how did you adapter it to mft? what adapter did you use? thnx

@@troiboy1621 Hi there! Glad you liked the video. I realise the link the discription no longer works, but the adapter I used is what's called a Krasnogorsk-2 to Mft adapter. It was difficult to find for me but I'm sure you'll be able to find on on either ebay or amazon. Hope that helps!
Will these work with the OG BMPCC?

Yes they certainly do. All the footage in this video was shot with the OG BMPCC and in my opinion is better suited to this camera, especially since both the Vega 7 and the Vega 9 both cover the sensor.
you have the wrong 12mm lens! its not the 12.5mm, you want the Mir-11M 12mm f2. i had the same issue, cheers dude
