Door dashers get paid for every order they deliver. Factors such as distance and the estimated time required determine the exact amount.

People from here like to mention that tipping is not a thing here because a lot of us are just amazed that people put up with that shit. People in the US need to start realizing that tipping is nonsense to keep people from a living wage. It's crazy to see how people have internalized that stuff and act like its ok.

Not only that, they'll even defend tipping! Its a convenient thing for employers. But what happens if the economy gets worse? The average person won't be tipping as generously or it won't even be tipping to begin with if money is tight. And let's be honest how many of these business even give the tips to their employees. Many keep the tips.

tipping is fine but people need to get of that mindset that tip is something you ow somebody and demand it. I've never tipped because its just not the norm where i live I used to only see tipping in movies lol. all tho you can tip, but whether i tip or not usually I pay for the food I pay for the delivery costs so i paid for what i get and i paid for what should be delivered so tip or not do your job or don't work. And then if you do your job well somebody is gonna give you a tip eventually because its an act genorisity. A act of repecting the service. I can't stand these people that get mad for no tips at others yes i get it your work is hard, but thats nobodys problem or fault, everyone has problems and you can't get mad that you picked a job where you have problems. Maybe they have something else to give that money to living is not cheap or free in itself just because i can order food doesn't mean i'm elon musk and can provide with the right tip. Everyone has problems so while i get why they are upset they are not the only one with problems so they shouldn't be entitled and you shouldn't work there to begin with if you can't stand not being fed tips by the customer you suppposed to do the service not me i don't work there. The way some people talk about demanding a tip you would almost think the customer is supposed to provide the service instead of the person with the job.

I live in jersey, and yes it is a law for nobody but the workers to pump gas. Don't quote me but I think the reason for it to have a law was something ridiculously stupid.

I tip my hair dresser and sit down place waiters (if they actually do their job well defines how much). Barely ever tip for anything else unless the situation or how they performed REALLY called for it. Also I spit my drink out at the “nice house for five dollar tip” Id have been like “yeah, nice night for you to f*ck off into” atleast you got a freakin tip. A lot of people don’t bother to tip delivery people.

canada and there are certain gas station brands in the states that still do staff service for gas pumping. we had ONE in my home town that did it and saw one on a road trip to tallahassee (i think in tampa?)

Oregon is also a state where they don’t pump their own gas. Unless that has changed recently.

I was a waitress back when I was a kid (around 20) and we were paid $2.15 per hour because tips were considered part of our check. Minimum wage at the time was $5.25, so without tips we wouldn't have made any money. When I go out to eat, I always tip (depending on service quality) because I know how the service industry works. Also I always tip my stylist when I get my hair done. She is great, and really sweet. And she does an amazing job with my hair.

In England tipping is more of a thing you do if you don't care about change. If you give them a 20 and it's only a little bit back youle just say keep the change and that's as far as tipping really goes. I wish we did have more of a tipping culture here but not because it's necessary for the employee like in the us

If you start accepting tipping as normal then you'll be a few steps removed from companies lobbying the government to allow lower pay for service jobs like in the US. I'm not gonna speak for the UK but here in the Netherlands i want that shit to stay the f*ck away. Just pay people a living wage, hell pay them more than a living wage.

@@methos4866 I completely agree. But it is a nice feeling if it is no burden to you to just help someone else out. That's what I like about it. It's supposed to be a little thank you not a mandatory obligation. However England is currently crumbling and we are slowly dieing with the Tories

When I did work as a server, our tips went into a jar. And was dispersed to all the cooks and waitresses. Even though it was your table. Kind of annoying but oh well. Not in that industry anymore. Never again. Lol

I prefer it that way tbh at least in europe. People over here hate the way servers in the us act and just want to be left alone. Of course you should be friendly and smile but more important you should be fast and efficient. There is not much room for you to be more special than any of the other servers and the kitchen deserves its fair share too since it needs to keep up with the service and cooks the dishes that get sent out
