​@@zyrahanne2103I just finished this arc. It made me tear up realizing that he wasn't just yelling that particular lie just for fun. It's more like he was lying to himself just trying to escape reality and hope for his father to come back. I think the lies and tall tales he made were suddenly put into context for me. He found solace in tall tales, living a fantasy, etc., to feel better when he was really hurting at the way reality seemed. That's why he felt those stories could help Kaya get out of her rut as well.

And Brook's backstory and his immortality and he may not die even when straw hats pass away and tell their stories, these all will tear u up...😢

I love this arc so much it’s my favourite east blue arc. I don’t care if people hate on it call it boring or say the villain is bad or blah blah blah whatever it is but this arc will always be my favourite east blue arc

Many people seem to feel the urge to rewatch the first arcs of One Piece and OG Dragon Ball wuth Kid Goku. There truly is some magic to the beginnings and many missed or forgotten infos and details.

He never lied, there is a medicine that can cure all diseases, only he had to wait before he met it

It's even more touching and sad that Ussop wants to be a brave man because his mother's last words.

i dont even remember this scene, seeing this video really made me like usopp more, i think i need to rewatch this arc

Please explain to me how it was ruined. I haven't watched it. But I really need to know. From the sounds of it, it looks like LA did Usopp dirty. I would think the showrunner would be able to give his story a bit more respect for obvious reasons.

@@dittosame-o67 they downplayed his flashbacks. Just like they dowmplayed alot of scenes from manga/anime. I know everything can't be exactly like a comic book in live action, but alot of scenes in the original are very impactful, sometimes even if it is just one picture. The angle is just right, the setting, the line. But in the LA. They dismissed alot of it. Maybe the LA creators and I have different tastes in what constitutes a powerful moment. In Usopps case, they did a poor job explaining why he lies and how he misses his parents. In the manga you really feel how lonely and hurt he his by what he has been through. In LA it was basically "oh by the way, Usopps mom died and he was sad. Moving on"

@@dittosame-o67 They did the same thing with Arlong and Nami. In the original, you get the feeling like Arlong is somewhat a "pretty chill guy" as long as you stay on his good side. He says he likes people who knows how money works. He has no problem with people who gives him a good deal. Nami is given a lot of freedom, being one of the crew and all. He even seem to actually like her on some basic level. So when he promises Nami he will free her and her Village if she pays him 100 million Berries, you think he can be reasoned with. But then he screws her over without actually breaking his promise. She cries and lashes out at him and calls him out on it, and he just grabs her by the face and says "have I ever boken a promise?" She runs away and cries, completely broken, and he just laughs at her, and you finally know he is 100% evil. He never cared a single bit about her. The scene is just brutal. In LA. It was basically "Ooh no! Anyway..."

@@PyramidHead6 I’m really disappointed by this (backstories and character build up, really?). I’m still mixed about even catching a glimpse of the LA. I’m better off watching clips online or ignoring it all together 😧 Thank you for your explanation. I understand having to condense and leave some stuff out, but the emotional impact has to still hit. If all, in LA, it should hit harder.

@@dittosame-o67 you're welcome. But I do think it is worth watching it if you really like One Piece. They did some things good. The casting was mostly good, and the scenography was the best thing about it. Some of the changes were for the better, and some for worse. But all in all, it was a good show, it just wasn't awesome. Entertaining but not captivating. The Straw Hat Crew actors were really good. Some of them got a bit of unfair bashing, but as far as I have read, they all put in 110% effort to be the characters.

1:00 now i see the reason behind Usopp's goal. It shows the respect he still has to his mother. Not my favorite one piece character for nothing

All the backstories for the OPLA were done pretty well emotionally esp Sanji & Nami but my lord did they butcher Usopp's flashback scene i actually cringed a bit🤦‍♀️ i really hate to harshly critique child actors but damn compared to all the other Strawhat child actors man did he have the most bland emotion when saying his lines compared to this original scene. I guess i kinda more blame the director for not at least trying to get him to convey more emotion but oh well🤷‍♀️

Also, other than this one flashback, we've seen nothing about Usopp's past, so I don't know if Oda has,something heart crushing planned, cause this is the shortest back story we know among the crew. Oda just seems to go back in the story some times and randomly or spontaneously takes old things for inspiration and brings them back and then it seems like he planned it all along. Believe me, no sane person could have enough patience or a good enough memory to do so much foreshadowing over so many years.

His Captain is an emperor of the sea, and Yassop having a high bounty i think he abandoned his family for a really good reason and for their safety, so that no one would know who Ussop father is and put them in danger, which sadly was all in vain due to his wife dead and his son Ussop aboard with one of the dangerous pirates on the planet Monkey D Luffy.

@@fighter500mx3 He joined the Red Hair Pirate before his infamy. He did not have a bounty when he first met Shanks, as he was first member to join Shanks. He didn't have to leave his wife and child. But he has his own reasons/dreams. We have yet to now what it is until he reunites with Usopp. My opinion: I think before joining Shanks, he probably came in to terms with his wife. Much like how Kaya encourages usopp to pursue his dreams as she does with hers.

I think both Yassop and his wife both came into terms with each other before Yasopp leaving. I think it is a parallel to how Usopp left Syrup Village to pursue his dreams with Kaya being encouraged to pursue her own dream. Yasopp has his own reasons but I DO NOT believe he left in spite them or that he didn't care. I think he was encourage by his wife to pursue his dream similar to Usopp. This is my opinion. Thanks for sharing

For real. Don't get me wrong, Usopp's mother seemed to reconcile with the decision from the jump. But I just can't believe Usopp doesn't harbor just a teensy weensy bit of resentment towards his father. Of course, he respects and admires his dad and may even 100 percent understand his dad's call to the seas. But that doesn't mean Usopp was 100 percent okay with being abandoned (underlying issues or not, let's remember Water 7 Usopp). Or maybe I'm making it a bigger deal than it actually is..apparently.

About 12 years later Usopp became a GOD
