The sitcom that Kid'N'Play refused to do ended up being one of the most memorable ones in history. Wow!

As a kid i couldn't wait for the "Kid & Play" cartoon to come on on Saturday mornings.. it was so good

Kid ‘N Play had one of the best Saturday morning cartoons ever! I remember my Pops having me on weekends it was MANDATORY that I had my Black @$$ outside ALL DAY on Saturdays…the ONLY exceptions were the restroom or when my G’Ma said to come eat but we practically had to be outside until the streetlights came on. When Kid ‘N Play’s cartoon came out, Pops was like “Alright…but soon as it goes off, take your @$$ outside.” He actually would watch it with me!🤣. Those were the days!

Props! We would get up early play outside then be like yo! The Kid N Play cartoon is on!!! And the all the lil homies would run in there house for the 30min it was on, like it was half time! And then head back outside lol 😂

i remember that line up alvin and the Chipmunks was also canceled. i was 11 years old at that time now 45 now

Their cartoon was good too. It kinda reminded me a little bit of Fat Albert, they had morals and lessons at the end of every episode.

Saturday Morning Cartoons really did die in the early 90's thanks to The Disney channel, and Nickelodeon.

Well nickelodeon been around since the late 70s and Disney channel early 80s...i think more so it was cartoon network ..video games etc...kids were losing interest due to many other outlets for cartoons

@@jasonhearn5818 Cartoon Network was not even a "factor" until it was included in most cable packages at the END of the 90s decade... Kid N Play and MC Hammer had cartoon shows in the very EARLY 90s and conceptual work may have begun as early as the late 80s... Also T L C was said or mentioned to have been offered a cartoon show but their manager turned it down which was a different story. Cartoon Network began by being or trying to be some type of "pay cable" channel almost like HBO and to an extent the original Disney Channel that had many parents buying "hot boxes" in the 80s just to have the channel for whatever programming they did. Keep in mind that "Cartoon Network" was just the name they were lucky to secure but the company who ran that channel was Hanna Barbera Studios Productions which is why the vast majority of the animated series they broadcasted were all Hannah Barbera Productions and the only reason they ran stuff they did not own like Warner Bros cartoons, Japanese Anime and Thundercats was because maybe they understood their programming was lame af and needed to attract viewers... iirc they also created "Boomerang Network" which is just basically Hannah Barbera Studios Productions #2 focused on their early cartoons and that was also a pay cable channel until it wasn't What most people do not realize is that when Disney announced that Disney Channel was no longer gonna be a "pay for cable channel" around maybe early 1990s it probably scared all the other networks... probably because they feared all the viewers were gonna go Disney but more importantly because PARENTS would more than likely be "Disney fans" and thus influence their kids to watch disney even if the programming was inferior to previous Saturday Morning shows. So indeed the Saturday Morning Cartoon time slot did die off due to mainly Disney Channel... iirc Nickelodeon was just a fairly solid alternative and basic cable (I can't recall) pretty much went from barely 16 channels to like 50 or 60 nationwide NOT including pay for cable channels like HBO, Max, Starz, etc.. now past 2000s you started getting more than one thousand TV channels which is ridiculous and later you have those internet channels... it is way too many channels to figure out... then you have youtube...

That sitcom with Don rickles would have been hilarious!

Come full circle....Kid and Play stole House Party from Fresh Prince \Jazzy Jeff and they've stole "Fresh Prince from Bel Aire" from Kid and Play

I always was under the impression that as soon as Kid N Play were able to work on three films that maybe somehow they would work on some new topic for a film or that they would team up with some of the new black film directors of the 90s, including Eddie Murphy and Spike Lee... then again I kind of assumed that might be the case before I found out that the big film studios were monitoring ticket sales and would at most offer a couple of films depending on the artist. The Fat Boys had a three film deal and it is so sad because those films are still funny, fun to watch and enjoyable yet hardly anyone knows about them. Im not talking about any academy award winning performances or nominations here but at least constant team ups and projects as well as comedy and romance films cause technically House Party had those notes and it's crazy cause you can see influences from those movies in 90s sit com shows here and there.

Kid 'N' Play wouldn't have looked right on Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, so the network did the right thing, choosing Will Smith.
