The iconography of this game is so disorienting due to the "heart = health pick up" that's become so universal today...
Me and my buddy used to spend hours trying to beat the first 2 levels of this game. Watching you blast through them in a few minutes was mind blowing! Good run.
Sub 21 IN A MARATHON SETTING. Back when I used to speedrun this game getting sub-25 seemed nearly impossible.

Awesome idea
I'm so glad KI was added this year, GG FBS and Rumble! Love to see KI get it's 'day in the sunlight'.
Loved this game as a kid. It does have great music. It features the classic NES reverse difficulty curve, where the game is incredibly tough at the beginning but becomes easier over time. In this one, the final boss is trivially easy.
As a kid, I spent days and days playing this game. It's so funny that you can finish it in 22 minutes.

Took me a month to get through the underworld. Then it took about 3 hours to get from there to the end.
Casually changing the release year from 1997 to 1986 mid-run. Well done GDQ. That was bothering the crap out of me.

Gosh i didn't even see that number. now that I am jumping around in the video, I see it changes first to 1986, then to 1991, then to 1986, 1991, 1987, then it finally stops on 1986 somewhere in world 2.

3:40 - I played this game for the first time when i was like 6 years old or something. And that moment when i first triggered a Reaper still haunts me to this day.

That actually isn’t the worst ending: if you take a really really long time to beat the game Palutena turns you into a monster as punishment
