Kid Congo Then and There . An Interview with Kid in 2014

This is an interview I conducted with Kid Congo Powers in 2014 regarding his musical career from beginning to the present. It is approximately 30 minutes long.
It was done right before the Kid Congo and the Pink Monkey birds concert at the Casbah in San Diego.
I shot the video with the help of Michael Steven Gregory. It was edited by Michael Brueggemeyer.

I had no idea he was hanging out with The Screamers but it makes sense given he has connections to every single awesome band for several decades

I saw the Cramps at the Peppermint Lounge in NYC in 1981 and Kid Congo was with them then. At that show he wore a gold lame blouse. I saw them again later at the Peppermint Lounge (after the club had moved downtown from Times Square), and Kid was still with them. I saw them several more times later on, but he had left the band by then.

Excellent interview, but have to give you a heads up that, in the 1984 black & white Cramps photo around 15:44, that's not Kid, it's Click Mort. There are only a couple of photos of him in the band, so nice hunting, but: wrong guy.

Wow! Thank you for that. Have known Kid for about 30 years and he neglected to point that out to me HA! I hadn't heard of click Mort. If I can get an Editor to change that and give Click a credit I will. Thanks again.

He was only in the band for about six months, between Ike Knox v.1.0 and Ike Knox v.2.0, and did a West Coast tour. I think there are some photos floating around from Seattle, but otherwise, that photo was the only posed shoot they did, so it's kind of hilarious that you managed to dig that one up.

Not sure if this is a serious question. If it is, Kid was the guitar player in those bands and formed the Gun Club with Jeffrey Lee Pierce

"Hard songs they had" ... The Cramps don't have any hard songs ... they are the easiest songs in the world to play.
