Ye abit unfair with the age advantage still great 2 see. Parr still no easy fight did great work 2 the body just didn't have the same speed and reaction he used 2.

Tons of respect for Parr, getting up after each of those massive hits is really unbelievable and if the referee didn't stop the fight i bet he would have continued.

@@madrx2 if you had an actual fight then yes. If not then no you would get demolished. You don’t realize what it actually like to be In there. It’s not like sparring.
Parr is literally a Tank, Even on that last kick he immediatly signaled the ref that he was ok to keep fighting and got back up. what a BEAST. And congrats to Holzken for keeping his composure and staying calm even while taking so many kicks trying to find an opening.

@Goesdeep Well for one, fighting Muay Thai in a cage with MMA gloves was JWP's idea. He started doing caged Muay Thai promotions in Aussie before ONE picked it and him up..

Holzken and Parr are always entertaining. I was an MMA fan first and foremost but watching Nieky Holzken in Glory in his prime was amazing. It's crazy how kickboxing and Muay Thai isn't more popular in the states

Oh, it's starting to get notice and take a beautiful shape in the States. Nothing like UK or overseas at all. But, we're getting more events monthly, more tournaments (outside of TBAs and MTO), we got WBC coming, Muay Thai is an Olympic sport now and the ever growing YDL/MDL events that are being thrown across the nation. Look into it, Muay Thai is really making a name for itself and influencing athletes to train in it no matter their backgrounds.

JWPs first fight after a hip replacement. He only had one more after this. Both of these guys are absolutel Legends.

@peterbalac1915 hahaha. JW has retired now and is training a number of fighters, including his daughter Jazzy. His son is killing it with his Jui Jitsu career, winning numerous titles.
That spinning heel kick is the stuff of nightmares 😲
I treated JWP after his THR. My son also trained under him and Angie for 6 months before going to Bjj. Lovely guy, what you see in interviews is exactly how he is. Legend and gentleman!!

I trained at Boonchu for a year when I was living at Currumbin. The first night I went there he stayed back for like 15-20mins talking to me and gave me a free kombucha. I moved to Newcastle and after covid went back up for a holiday and got a session in whilst I was there and he remembered me when I walked in. He's as nice as everyone says (if not nicer lol)
Should see JWP in his early 20s, he was a beast!

You haven't seen very many spinning hook kicks then lmao - Edson Barboza on Terry Etim and Kevin Lee, Badr on Stefan Leko, Uriah Hall on Mousassi, Wonderboy on Ellenberger and that's just off the top of my head lol

For the record Dutch kickboxing is practically Muay Thai regarding the striking technique. What we saw was Dutch kickboxing vs Muay Thai

This was Parr's first fight following a hip replacement where he'd not been able to do his normal training of lots of road work. He should have never gone straight back in with such a hard fight but kudos to him for taking on such a big challenge.

That kick-boxer is doing both😮💨 mixing Muay Thai and kick-boxing's.
I've never seen Parr fight but watching this and seeing that he's 45 I have to go back and watch his highlights
Watched this live at the time and ill admit the heart of Parr was downright impressive. I for me Parr was the absolute Legend with Nieky being the Star here not in reverse. For those who dont know sure this was late in Nieky's carreer but John Wayne Parr was what 45 at the time? Mad impressive bout to watch.

This was very interesting to see. I always wondered which style would come out on top given how similar they are. It's like watching Karate vs Taekwondo; similar but different enough to be entertaining to watch.

Mostly looked like a blend of boxing and karate from both. People split hairs about styles. Seems Mostly the same in a fight

It's precisely because of people's respect for him that they wanted him to hang them up in the first place. Hard to see a legend of the sport fighting on way past their best and getting battered, JWP had no business fighting still at this point. Of course it's his decision and you have to respect that, but fans of his arguably just wanted to see a man who's given so much to the sport bow out with grace rather than fight on too long and potentially get seriously damaged.

@@danj805 if you followed JW on social media you would have understood the process behind him wanting to have a last fight. I'm with you to a certain degree, I didn't want to see him in the ring again, especially against Holzken but all he has known his whole life is combat. He was desperate to go out on his own terms and he managed to do that in his final fight. Now he can concentrate on his family and gym a happy man. To say he had no right being in the ring? I think he had EVERY right.
