Kia Soul Stabilizer Bar Link Install Knocking Sound

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I will show you how I installed a stabilizer bar link on my 2011 Kia Soul. This part is also known as, anti-roll bar link, roll bar link, anti-sway bar link, or sway bar link. If you hear a clanking, clunking, rattling or a knocking sound coming from the front left or front right side of the car, this may be the solution for you. I am demonstrating what I did, perform this at your own risk. Always use jack stands, be safe.

    I've been listening to mine for well over 6 months now, I'm too fat to get under the car under normal circumstances, so I rolled up on the curb, so I could get under to find out what it was. Figured it out was the link. $29 for the lifetime warranty part. Can't wait to get it changed. Thanks for the vid.

    Did just the link fix it? Or was it something else or additional? I'm getting a rattling noise on my sportage (140k) and I'm hoping it's not my struts.

    Yes this could be one of the problems. I have Kia Rondo 2007 and have noise on the left side. Noise is worse in winter time (if there is winter in Vancouver) or when temperature goes below 10C (ish). Noise is gradually reduced as I drive the car and is almost gone after some 10-20k. My opinion is that this could be more related to ball joint as it is built with a tight tolerance so when it heats up it kind of disappears. Went once to mechanic, they replaced something (at the time I knew little) it was a small piece but noise came back quickly. Based on some other videos people are saying if you have noise on the left side then your right side ball points are worn. I've taken close ups of my links and cannot tell if rubber is damaged but again I don't think links are the problem. If they are some say you should experience problem with car handling when turning. Also it is described as 'clunking' noise where noise I have is more like 'grinding' and sounds very unpleasant for short period of time. Present on bumps or every time hole car goes up-and-down (road not 'flat'). But if you think u need to replace link and it's obviously damaged this video is encouraging showing it is easy to do. Links does not cost as much as ball joints as well which are not recommended to be replaced at home (wheel alignment). In addition to my thinking I mostly drive to work short distance (7km) and when engine and car is 'cold' I make left turn and then again left turn on the steep hill putting pressure on the left side drive components ... and like that more than 10 years.

    We recently experienced a loud clunking sound on corners when driving slow or hitting bumps, which got worse as time went on. We did replace the sway bars as shown by some of these videos. (Great tutorials, very easy to do). There was nothing wrong with the ones we replaced, the noise continued. Took it to the dealer, turns out it was the ball joint on the right side. The noise is gone. They only did the one side, probably should've done both sides. Cost was just under $300 ca, included the wheel alignment.

    2012 Soul base, When i changed mine even with a impact drive they spun. Sub-genious I am, I used an angle grinder to make a cut into the grease cavity deep enough to put a notch on the ball end that spins. Stick some flat tool of your choice in there and NO SPIN/easy out! : )

    I have a 2016 kia soul I only hear a loud like something banging together when i go over bumps like dips in the road at first I thought it was my motor mounts the more I do research watching videos its starting to make me think it's the sway bar links but I don't have no issues around turns just when i go over bumps I can here the banging together noise at slow speeds because I live on back roads and they are horrible nothing but deep dips in certain parts of the road I can't avoid.

    For less than $30 for both sides, it's worth a shot to replace them. My car is approaching 190k miles and one side started making a creaking sound so I replaced them again and the noise went away. @@rhinsen I ordered a set online. The pictures shown of them not only look identical from left side to right side, but also top to bottom. Almost like a dogbone looking thing that fits both sides but doesn't matter if it's upside down or not. There has to be some kind of offset that the pictures are not showing to differentiate between left/right.

    This is happening to me. I have soul 2020, 1month old. Its brand new car. Actually my first car ever but already having problem.. I dont get the noise when I'm going over actually bump or going in high speed but only when I'm driving on bumpy road(like cracked road or unpaved road) in low speed local zone. I went to dealership yesterday, they said nothing is wrong and noise is fixed but nope. It was not fixed.. and now I'm trying to find the problem by myself. I should check this after work today. Do you know any other reason that could cause the noise?

  • @rhinsen

    @rhinsen

    3 жыл бұрын

    My advice is to take the car back to the dealer and have someone go on a test drive with you so they can hear the problem. You could also record the noise with your phone while you are driving. Since the car is under warranty I would not try any repairs. 1 month old, they need to fix. Good luck to you...
