Hard to believe that this is a twin brother of Hyundai Alcazar. I believe the USPs of these cars are entirely different. I think KIA has hit the right formula in offering customers the versatility, nice packaging and a killer pricing. KIA Carens will attract customers from different segments where as Alcazar failed to impress any although both share the same platform and mechanicals. In the US KIA Telluride is the most wanted SUV and they are growing in to a leading passenger car manufacturers around the world because of their beautiful design quotient and plush interiors matched with impeccable mechanicals. KIA used to be categorized as a cheap car manufacturer in the 80s and 90s but they have come a long way and able to tick all the right boxes for the customers today. The highlight as you mentioned is the comfortable 3rd row which no other manufacture was able to get it right. This is the most comfortable and affordable luxury MPV money can buy and KIA very cleverly created their own space where no other competitor can compete. Although there are a lot of 7 seater MPV/SUVs in the market none of them are truly a 7 seater and people definitely don't buy them for that reason. Thanks for this detailed review but I was expecting a review on an automatic petrol version as I have my own doubts on the fuel economy. We are missing your Nagercoil - Kanyakumari roads in your review as they are the best tracks for the test drives. How is the high speed stability and winding road drivability ? Expecting you to cover these in the future reviews on other variants, especially on the petrol automatics.

Alcazar is based on the Creta / Seltos platform while the Carens is based on an extended Venue/ Sonet platform. This is the main reason why Kia has been able to achieve such killer pricing. But the platform details have not been explicitly stated anywhere and neither has Kia stated that Carens shares its underpinnings with the Alcazar.

After 1 year usage I am happy and convinced on the decision I made to buy Kia carens. For me comfort and mileage were my first priority and I can confirm that Kia carens satisfied me in both these aspects. I switched from Skoda to Kia last year and I am completely happy for choosing Kia Carens. Below are some of the benefits/advantages I have experienced from Kia Carens in my last 1 year usage. I have drove exactly 25,000 km in 1 year 2 months. 1. Good space. Easily can accommodate 5 adults and 3 kids 2. Very comfortable ride 3. Excellence mileage. I get 16 in the city and more than 20 on highways 4. Very good AC 5. Good after sales service. 100x better compared to Skoda 6. Good boot space compared to other 7 seaters 7. Good headlights. Very powerful and definitely better than my previous car 8. Good brakes. Had experienced few times. 9. Parking assistance with sensors. 10. Sunroof which my kid enjoys the most 11. Cruise control which is extremely useful on highways 12. Decent music system. Initially not very impressed but now adopted to it and enjoying 13. Better ingress and egress 14. Ventilated seat which is really useful in this hot summer 15. One of the best diesel engines in the market now. Same smoothness as petrol engine.Haven’t experienced any difficulties with full load. Have done long drives on hills with 6 adults, 2 kids and full luggage for 5 days vacation. It was very comfortable and never faced any issues in terms of power. Disadvantages. 1. Bad suspension. 2. Body roll 3. Not very useful wireless charging 4. No wireless carplay or Android auto 5. Not impressive build quality. Even my 6 yr old kid is able to open the door easily whereas in my skoda even adults used to struggle to open as it was too heavy

I bought the diesel Prestige plus this July....suspension is bad....otherwise excellent...but suspension really bothers me after paying 19lacs..bouncy like a overloaded sedan...taking it to service center tomorrow

Maruti's XL6 new facelift is no more a value for money.. Compared to that kia's prestige plus and luxury will be much much better for the features it carries

Hi All, Please be aware that KIA Carens condensation issue still not resolved. In August month production car also this issue still persisting, so if you are going to buy Carens do your PDI properly and take the delivery and its very sure that till today delivered vehicle across all varients from Premium to Luxury Plus all Carens condensation issue not resolved. Many times existing Carens owners are reported to KIA directly and through various service centre across country. But KIA not taking any action on the same and just ignoring the complaints.. So those who are booked and waiting be aware of this condensation issue in Carens!!! Kia India #Carens #condensation

Hi Bro, now KIA has revised its pricing , the base end prestige model has crossed 10L exshowroom price and reflecting a high tax , what your idea on this ?. because we middle class pay tax for every thing. I was told by Renault people that there won't be any turbo engine for triber, the reason being that there is no space under the hood to accommodate turbo charger or turbo engine.... As a owner of triber, i can tell you that the present engine's power is adequate to pull 7 people on board...

Asir Bro, nonetheless to mention awesome & to point review! But IMO diesel auto (top end) is not worth the money after price hike ( nearly a lakh). Now the car cost around 21.6 lacs. Hence I have canceled my booking and decided to go for TATA Safari (yes bit a strech). Quick question on reliability of TATA cars and mileage perspective comparing Carens, is it a right decision or do you have any better suggestion or a six seater? My budget is 25 lacs max. Thanks in advance.

Tata safari kaziranga edition. Reliability is good from tata. Mileage u don't expect around 16 because of heavy build quality and massive kerb weight for safety aspects, but sure you get 12 to 14 max.

Asir Bro, Nice review for a MPV focused on the comfort, explaining the ride comfort on all seating position really good. It seems the drive is from Ambattur estate road to Vaanagaram toll plaza, highways portion is very short with congested traffic After taking the U turn near the Vaanagaram toll plaza, you would have to go upto Puzhal for better highways performance and we can know more about its High speed stability. Anyways thank you Team for giving us an opportunity to know about Kia Carens in a different perspective. Great going 👍

Today i visited a a show room for pre purchase enquiry. I found one drawback. I would say it is a major drawback. there is push button option available in the second row seat for tilting/folding. when we press gently seat get quickly tilted. Kids knowingly or unknowingly press the button and second row seat will get tilted. person sitting in second row may get hurt

I have my own doubt on stability of the Karen's with full occupants. The pulling/lag on hilly terrain and long distance also to be taken into account. The problem with Kia and Hyundai is , they don't provide high hp in their seven seaters unlike XUV 700,Scorpio N, Harrier or safari. This suv can be compared with XL 6 as was a detailed minute observations done'by carwale Vikrant 7 months back.

Are there any issues with the DPF getting clogged in this BS6 diesel engine? There were a few reports of DPF issues in the initial batches of Seltos.

May be irukalam or they already did overcome this issues after they already got in seltos. So we have to wait for 6 months for issues need to be noted.

Yes, additional seat covers will block Airbag opening

Wireless Android is not avb in the top end and I heard a rumor they are having some legal problems and software updates can fix it. But In the meantime can I have an alternative cause I tried a few adapters but it's not working. Help pannuga bro!

Can you explain the difference between Mahindra Bolero and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, in built, comfort, maintenance. A normal upper middle class can update hatchback to Bolero? Or is it advisable to upgrade to Eritiga/Carens.? Simply want to understand a normal person who maintained hatchback can afford Mahindra Bolero. What's the advantage and disadvantage having Bolero over Eritiga/carens?? If not to detail, atleast over all review also fine.
