Ki-61 Hien | No sound
Ойын-сауық
This is my big painting project. I basically don’t know anything about Japanese planes. I picked this one purely for the paint scheme: lots of masking + natural metal finish. Pretty much first time trying to do NMF. I used Tamiya LP series and MRP metallics. They both work very well and are very durable.
The panel post-shading looks fairly good on the video, but it is too strong IRL
I happen to glue the landing gear struts with incorrect orientation first, but luckily noticed that soon enough to be able to fix it.

👍👍👍
I feel like some music would've made this more like a fun to watch video. Great build, I actually built a Hien myself, it was fun.
David, such a wonderful build! I really appreciate the lack of unnecessary music and commentary! Well done!

Thanks Floyd! And thanks for the feedback on the music and commentary - I am glad to hear I am not the only one.

@@DavidAndrs80 A very nice build. And indeed, if people want to hear music they can use their radio, Apple Music, Spotify, ...
Awesome build! Saw Mark from Montana's shoutout so had a look. Great builds! Subbed 👍
That's a beautiful build!!

Thank you, Paul. Glad you like it.
Fabulous build. Some Japanese paint schemes are tricky to paint. You did a great job.

Yes, the paint job was the main driver in this build. I was wondering how masking would work comparing to mottling or decals which is the usual approach I have seen. It worked ok, but I think it is still missing the feather edge. Maybe eventually I figure out how to do that. Also, thanks for the comment!
Beautiful build Mr Andrs. If it was mine I'd still be removing bits of tape I'd missed this time next year
Excelente video, no le vendría mal un poco de sonido. Felicitaciones quedó muy bonito el Ki-61
Amazing dexterity with the PE! You may it look easy, and I know it's not! At least not for me. Were you using PVA glue with the PE parts? Thanks for sharing!

The white stuff is PVA (Micro Kristal Klear) best for glueing already painted parts. The clear stuff is loctite gel (almost instant bond) - good for those little handles and what not. And the black stuff is a black CA 2 from Mig - good when you want the glue to flow into gaps.
Hi David...do you make and sell the camouflage mask? If so, I would be interested in purchasing a couple...Ty, Mike

Hi Mike! I don't make or sell them. I just made one-time masks for this one project and cut them on my vinyl cutter. They are just traced from the Hasegawa instruction sheet...
I appreciate you having no sound here. I frequently mute modeling videos with music so I can focus on the build without the distraction. Relevant commentary is okay.

💯 I figured out that if the video is interesting enough (which I try to do), there is no need for an audio track. Thanks for the comment!
