Khris Middleton On The Future Of The Bucks, Losing To Playoff Jimmy, Giannis' Crazy Drive and More

Спорт

It's another day here in OM3 world and we're psyched welcome in Milwaukee Bucks star, Khris Middleton. Khris was gracias enough to sit down for his very first podcast interview. Let's get to it. Topics include: JJ's intro on Milwaukee's ability to compete in the future, Khris Middleton on last year's playoff disappointment, playoff Jimmy going OFF on The Bucks, Giannis' comments last year about "failure", his stressful NBA draft story, the growth and development between he and Giannis Antetokounmpo, the batman vs. robin media narrative with he and Giannis and how they've learned to play together, why the series against Kevin Durant and The Brooklyn Nets was SO stressful, the key moments from that playoff run that led to an NBA Championship, what he learned from becoming a champion, why he tries to stay out of the limelight, and the most gratifying part of his NBA career.
Subscribe to The Old Man and The Three podcast w/ JJ Redick (ESPN / First Take) and Tommy Alter KZread channel today for more NBA analysis, player interviews and highlights.

I don’t pay attention to Bucks media at all so I can’t say I’ve ever heard Khris talk, but he seems like a good dude and I hope he has a good comeback year. My dream Finals this year would be my Nuggets against the Bucks, that series could go down as an all-timer in my opinion. Would be similar to the Spurs v Heat in those two 2013 and 2014 Finals.

@@RealParadox85 Id!ots like you act like '21 was the only injury riddled year ever in the history of the NBA lol. There aren't any more superteams, the Cavs & Warriors just made it look easy sniffing the Finals every year from 2015-2018 (2019 Warriors as well). What championship teams were close to sniffing the Finals multiple times just within the past 5 years? The Raptors have gotten nowhere close since 2019. Lakers missed the playoffs twice, won the chip in '20, 1st round exit in '21, & made the WCF in '23. Bucks made the ECF in 2019 & won the chip in '21, & never missed a playoffs within this stint. The Warriors loss in the Finals in 2019, missed the playoffs 2 years in a row, won the chip in '22, & a 2nd round exit in '23. The Nuggets 2nd round exit in 2019, WCF in '20, 2nd round exit in '21, 1st round exit in '22, & won the chip in '23. Other than the Warriors making the Finals twice within the past 5 years, what other teams were closer to "sniffing" the Finals multiple times, more so than the Bucks? You'd probably say the Celtics or Heat, but did they win any chips? Doesn't matter how close you get to a Finals or how many times you lose in the FInals, 2nd place doesn't compare to an actual championship. 😂😂

It’s an ongoing meme that Khris cooks the Celtics and he does play well but if you look at his numbers against y’all since like 2018 when the Bucks got good they’re similar to his season averages. Giannis’ numbers against the Cs are obviously much better and he even averaged a crazy 34/15/7 in 2022 and took the series to 7 when Khris was injured. He has definitely done the most damage to Boston as anyone would expect, we just talk about Khris doing it cos it’s not expected as much

i just wanna grow the batman analogy, and say that steph curry in this regard is the best alfred to play the game. He might not be batman or robin each night, but if 2 other guys around him can even play average in that role, he's a winner.

7:46 “they haven’t really hit in the draft the last few years …” You can’t be serious, Tommy. They drafted DJ Wilson in 2017 over J.Allen, OG, Kuz, Hart, D.White They drafted Donte D. over Huerter, Simons, Brunson They traded away their draft pick in 2019 where Claxton was the pick after their would’ve been pick They drafted Beauchamp over P.Watson, Jovic, Nembhard They’ve whiffed on all their picks since essentially 2014

Is it fair that the bucks players dont get the accolades they deserve because of the teammates they have are great? For instance, Giannis for MVP last season was discredited to be MVP because he had players like Jrue and Brook that were fighting for DPOY. Likewise, Brook's main argument against him winning DPOY was having Giannis on his team. The Bucks were the #1 team in the league yet Giannis didnt win MVP, Brook didnt win DPOY, Boppy P didnt win 6th man. Khris talks about how their mindset is only on winning I just wish the season awards followed this as well.

Two weeks later, and this interview is significant because at the 36 minute mark Khris specifically talks about how teams that lose in the playoffs get broken up to try something else. I have to wonder if he had ANY idea the trade for Lillard was coming?

The GM spoke about it and even Giannis didn't know until after it happened (they said Jrue and Giannis being so close (which Middleton is too) that they wouldn't put that on him). They probably had suspicions more trades might happen early on, due to how last season ended, but trading Jrue and getting Damian Lillard of all people, was probably a pretty crazy surprise.

@@infasis I totally agree that Horst did not outright tell the team. But, whether the trade was Jrue for Dame, or some other big 3 deal, I think both Middleton and Giannis knew that the one valuable piece that could be traded was Jrue and they were mentally and emotionally ready for it.(Just my opinion though)

Gianni’s gone leave regardless. He has a family now. I feel like he wants to raise his family in a better city. I’m from Milwaukee, it’s so segregated here. Miami, Toronto or New York.

Too many questions about Giannis. Tbh you can learn a few things From nardwar. Do some research You asked a question about 2021 championship. It wouldn’t be that hard to know he had a kid shortly after. Again, do some research. I feel like this coulda been a waaaay better interview. Better in terms of depth. Coulda asked him about that first all star, what was special about it or did he hear the Kobe comparisons that day?😂 Or maybe ask more USA questions seeing how he won gold and may not even get invited to Paris. I wonder fired he want to Go? Sorry for being lw. Anyways, solid interview for the most part but try to squeeze the fun out these guys. Pause
