Ukraine's president Volodymyrr Zelenskyy has canceled all of his upcoming trips as Russia intensifies attacks on the eastern region of Kharkiv. The new offensive began last week in one of the most significant border incursions since the war began. The town of Vovchansk has seen some of the most intense battles and almost 8,000 people have been forced to flee their homes.

Over the past 5 days, Russian troops have advanced in the Kharkov direction further than Ukrainian troops did during the 5 months of the counteroffensive last year.

Ukraine tried the best it could, I think Russia was just underestimated by the west in their ability to adapt and learn from this war despite their initial failures. Even now many people believe Russia is using human waves attacks with little to no strategy. When in reality they were constantly improving their strategy such as introducing the turtle tanks, electronic warfare to jam western weapons, converting weapons to glide bombs in a cost effective way, hacking drones etc.

Poland military strategist expect Russia to bomb Kharkiv extensively while Russian troops encircle and bypass Karkhiv to the west, cut off supply lines, cut off escape route, link up with the Eastern front, then battle of Kharkiv begins. This also allows attack on Ukraine's fortifications on Eastern front from both sides. Will require Russia adding another 300,000 soldiers to cover an area that large.
May have been a diversion; RU just took Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia. Thats the only town AFU captured last summer; gone now.

No they have not. Our company group is standing right in robotyne. Russians managed to recapture novoprokopivka, this is satellite village of Robotyne, but in robotyne there are no Russians as of may 16th morning situation.

And as I heard atacms missiles created quite serious devastation in their airfields south of robotyne and Crimea. True or not, but the fact is that they stepped on break with their aerial bombardment. Without those their infantry has no chance. 🤷♂️ I don’t think they will be able to recapture robotyne any time soon. Moreover they did not try to recapture it lately anyway. What they were doing, they were methodically reducing it into rubble. There is no civilian no intact buildings no otherwise infrastructure. Robotyne is gone, you and quite correct here, but it hasn’t gone to Russians.

If the war lasts another five year, yes, indeed they will. And Russia will need even more, although in tens of trillions of rubles instead of hundred of billion of dollars. Good thing is, under such circumstances, the USA would only have to provide for about 30-40% of the sum, while the other allies will provide the rest. So about $60-80 bn per year. Or 0.2% of the US GDP.

@@flesz_ Yet it isn't far from the truth. I'm pointing out that yes, indeed, way more money will be consumed by this war as things are looking. As things are looking, neither Ukraine nor Russia will give up for a few more years. It's hard to think it could last another 5 years, but that's not impossible. He might have meant it as sarcasm, but in the end, wars are costly and Russia certainly is putting a lot of money in and doesn't look to want to give up anytime soon.

Ukraine has used weapons to attack targets over the border but for some reason they only attack civilian targets and that's one of the reasons for the offensive.Ukraine has no chance to stop Russian advance and everyone knows this, as for the evacuation its most likely forced for the cameras, Ukrainian citizens are not afraid of Russians nearly as much as they are afraid of the Azof battalions .Liberation of Kharkiv is inevitable.
