Khabib’s student against Tarzan! Crazy fight! Islam Makhachev against Mansour Barnaoui!

Islam Makhachev’s fight became the main fight of UFC on ESPN event. It’s not so long time left before Islam will get the title shot in the UFC, so now it’s time to recall his M-1 Global debut.
It happened at M-1 Challenge 38 event on April 9, 2013 in St.-Petersburg, Russia. Islam won in all of his 7 pro fights and also won the world combat sambo championship and world combat sambo cup.
His opponents was equally interesting fighter. Makhachev was just 21 when he made is debut in organization, but his opponent, 100% Fight champion Mansour ”Tarzan” Barnaoui was even younger, just 20 years old! His resume was impressive as well, 8 victories and only 1 defeat as a pro.
A few years later one of these two fighters will follow Khabib’s footsteps on the way to the UFC champion’s title, another one will win M-1 Challenge lightweight title and Road FC Grand Prix. But even back in 2013 you could see how huge is the technical arsenal and fighting potential in both of these fighters, so everyone could expect the great fight this evening.

Didn’t realize what a disadvantage it is to foght MMA in a boxing ring. Constantly having to break up the fight because the fighters got tangled up in the ropes.

Both his striking and wrestling has improved leaps and bounds. His striking here looks so basic and im genuinely amazed at how Crisp it has gotten over the years. He was able to master it within few years which is not an easy feat and his wrestling as it stands today is God tier
