When you're at genius level as a fighter, you're capable of perceiving things in ways that normal people can't ever do. For someone who's first language isn't English Khabib articulates remarkably well. he's handicappimg himaelf in inflicting damage, maybe he don't KO punch but Khabib stopping himself on breaking some legs and arms and decide to choke or sub arb but wait him to tap and making sure it will not snap.. he did it against Johnson and Gaethje

Not really, he already chose the choking/wrestling path he is talking about and he is doing his best in every fight BUT once he subdues his opponent he knows he already won no need to do permanent damage, so he is actually doing his best and he knows that and he takes pride in it, this is why he talks like this you can see it, goes to show his humility and dedication about the sport, not the satisfaction of beating the shit out of his opponent.
