As a songwriter myself... It's easy. IDC if I sent it to you first. IDC how long it took you to record it. IF YOU DIDN'T PAY FOR EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS, IT'S NOT YOURS. Keyshia could have communicated that she wanted to pay for exclusive rights to the song so it wouldn't be sold to anybody else & they could have discussed drafting a contract with their lawyers, but she knows that would cost more money so she held out. That's the risk you take. With Priscilla already being a huge songwriter though, she most likely would not sell anything exclusively because she knows people are already checking for her. I mean, the girl wrote some of Rihanna's biggest hits! Why is it that if I write a song, I can't shop it to anyone else, but they have the freedom to bump my song off of their album with short notice at their leisure?? Us creatives that work behind the scenes always have to be put in limbo until they decide if they even want to release the song or not. Communication seems to be one-sided with these artists... and honestly, she probably wouldn't have even kept the song. She's just mad because it blew up.

Okay, I see we have a comment section full of Keyshia fans or dimwits! Clearly y'all have not watched all of their videos. Muni Long was asked to come into the studio A YEAR AGO to write for Keyshia, FOR FREE. Meaning she was NOT paid for her songwriting time. She wrote a song for Keyshia after hearing her issues and story. Keyshia didn't PAY, USE, OR OWN THE SONG. LATER, Keyshia is talking about last album to RETIRING. The SONGWRITER OR PRODUCER of a song/beat is NOT OBLIGATED TO SIT ON ANY SONGS THEY'VE CREATED unless there is a contract with clear understanding of this, or clear understanding that it will be PURCHASED AND SECURED. There was nothing shady about this, just Keyshia being IGNORANT to the process (she claims herself that she is not use to working with writers and ask for a producer to tell her wassup) and no CLEAR communication on whether she wanted the track OR NOT.

NEVA leave a songwriting session without the split sheets signed and agreed to. That way, if someone shops a song you co-wrote, you have legal grounds to get compensation.

All of this could have been avoided if Keisha and other artists handle business first. communication, understanding, documentation contracts is needed in and for all business.

She’s the songwriter on the song. If she originally owns the rights to the song, she can do what she wants with it. That’s why you sometimes have two versions of a song. It’s usually the original songwriter and their version and then whoever they want to sing it. Overall, she has the rights to it so she is still the owner of it. She can remix it, have someone different sing it or whatever. It’s her song. It sound better with her voice on it anyway. If keyshia wanted it, she should’ve asked to pay for it. Keyshia been in this game for way too long to act dumb. Cmon now that girl works with the big names boo, she ain’t stupid lol

Muni Long is the last artist in need of shopping for anyone else music. Her voice alone brings more than to the table. She ain't going nowhere! I’m late to this party. But I get it, Keyshia paid for studio time essentially to build a new project. Brought muni in they collaborated. Keyshia going through shit. Prolly not into the craft of sonically creating a masterpiece with life happening around her. Miss Long is a respected songwriter in the industry was invited into session with another artist and instead of pulling songs out her email that she spent her own money booking the studio time on she plugged in that aux and sent the engineer a session of one them good ass songs her and Keyshia was up slaving on. What muni shoulda did was not be lazy and write new shit for the new bih session she got invited to. Should’ve pulled up beats from whatever producers they was collaborating with that night and started from scratch….I totally get it.
