Wanna hear something funny? I actually bought a pair of carabiners fro Walmart yesterday, and they turned out to be so crappy that I’m gonna return them. 🤣 Meanwhile, I inspected my malfunctioning carabiner and realized I can repair it with about 1/2” of steel wire. I’m so cheap and lazy!! 🤣😂🤣

LOL Jay. I made these with 16 g brass wire.I tried one with 18g steel, but is was a bit flimsy. I think any thicker steel would be impossible to bend without the proper tools!

Thanks for sharing. I have seen some keychain videos I think they are using welding filler wire thus the custom wire binder tools? Steel wire as you may have stated. Your video was very helpful and useful, thanks for sharing. 16 gage, gage is bigger wire the smaller the numbers, right?

You are very welcome. Yes, 16 gauge is thicker than 18 for example!

Not exactly the kind of keychain I was looking for, but this looks fab! Could you manage this kind of keychain with only 18 gauge?

  • @HeatherBoydWire

Yes, you can use 18g wire as long as it's not too soft. I have a few other keychain tutorials on my channel too: kzread.infosearch?query=keychain Good luck.

Thanks Christina. Yes, Jay sent me some of those very fast videos and I had to improvise and make up my own design! Also this wire is not as stiff as the steel wire they use.
