Key West via "The Key West Express"
This video highlights our journey to Key West Florida aboard the boat Key West Express. The boat leaves and returns from Ft Myers Beach Florida (year round) and from Marco Island Florida (seasonal). We give a tour of the boat, highlight what we did in Key West and have a comparison in travel modes (highway driving vs boat) to Key West.
Charlie and Jennifer Pryde have lived in The Villages for three years and in Central Florida for seventeen years. Our main activities in The Villages are biking, fitness parks, pickle ball, platform tennis, golf and swimming. We love to travel throughout Florida, the United States and internationally. Our KZread channel’s focus is on promoting a physically active lifestyle for mature adults, but we will also indulge ourselves in a good restaurant, bakery or watering hole that we find during our travels.

I believe they are currently operating from Fort Myers and Marco Island right now.

Thank you that was very informative. That looks like a great way to be able to relax while getting there. 2 years in Florida and still have been down there. And I lived in Englewood which is not that far from Fort Myers.

Glad it was helpful! Definity a different way to get there from the Southwest coast versus driving across state and then 100 miles down highway 1.
Great video. You really touched on the highlights of Key West. The only thing I would differ with, is that being south Florida natives and traveling to Key West many, many times in our lives. I seriously doubt the 8 hour travel time from The Villages to Key West. Going back to the Miami area to visit family especially during Christmas is usually a good 5 hour++ ride as there seems to always be traffic issues from the Palm Beaches south. Now from the Miami area, specifically the Coral Gables/South Miami area, it has often taken us 6 plus hours to travel to Key West. The Keys has become a traffic nightmare. We have often thought of taking the jet boat just for the experience and fun.

Waze navigation app calculated the drive at 7 hours 15 mins. I understand that was probably with optimal traffic conditions. The boat is a more relaxing experience, and we will do that again.
