I hope none of the other Margaritaville Resorts go away. Bummer. Still looks like a nice place to stay, but I would probably be one of those guys getting off the cruise ship. LOL. Another great review of the resort and area. key West looks fun.

I totally agree! Margaritaville instantly gives you that 'Im on vacation' vibe! Sad to see it leave Key West! Cruise ships make it easy to ride when you can get to multiple locations. Those Cruise ships are ginormous. I think Nate is the only one who uses the gyms at hotels. I always want to but never make it there!!! That view looks amazing. I remember taking photos of the Southern Most Point. Nice photos!!!! Your Tan seems to be darker than mine 😂 You guys don't mess around, a half pound chocolate cookie is no joke!!!! Awe, so many choices! We have stayed once at the Southernmost Beach Resort and really loved it. We have also heard great things about The Reach Key West... I don't suggest the Casa Marina... we had a cockroach in our bathroom 🤢 and the rooms are pretty beat up (just being honest). -Ashley

Oh man that hotel is so nice!!! 😍😍 The shower is so luxury and at least you had a beautiful view of the water from the balcony! I never got a chance to stay there but we took a family trip to Key West a few years ago and we loved Duval street! We did the butterfly museum and the Ernest Hemingway house. The train looks like fun! I’ll have to do that next time I’m in the area 🚂

Wow no Margaritaville. All the times I have been to Key west has been with the Air Force so no resorts for me. Dang $20 bucks a night for parking. No one needs a scale on vacation 😆. Getting pumped up 💪🏻. Southern most point is always a must. I usually stay at that Navy base on the other side of that fence at the southern most point. Fun tour 😀

Great review, I'm sure it is still 5 o'clock somewhere, even though the name is changing. How was the hot tub? We are hot tub nuts, LOL, and we will schedule trips around hotels with hot tubs. And sometimes those hot tubs really disappoint.

@@AdventureEncounters - Key West is 744 nautical miles from where we visit in Louisiana and would take about 5 hours in our plane. We can fly into any airport - just need a flight plan and then you talk to air traffic control. The bigger the airport the more hectic it is, but doable.

I think when the cruise ships make a stop, they stay for a few hours so that the passengers can explore the area. I only took a cruise once in my life, so what do I know hehe

FYI - Key West voted against having cruises come & dock in Key West. The natives want it back to the original way the Keys were. I remember the Keys back in the 70's when there was only 'Sloppy Joes' for a restaurant on Duval Street. Lol... that's when we had the best of times. lol no rules. The Governor of Florida said, no more mask & we are 100% open. It's THE CONCH TRAIN 🚂 Very informative.

Ya, I was reading about the cruise ships the other day... I feel like they are too big to come into the island... but I know its good for all the small mom and pop shops... bitter sweet maybe? Key West has so much history! I feel like I learn something new every time we visit! Hard to picture just one bar in Key West lol 😆 This is why we love living in Florida... its truly a place that isn't so up tight! I’ve been going to Key West for over 30yrs and wouldn’t recommend Margaritaville / Opal resort especially if cruise ships return. It can be noisy and verycrowded in that area, cruise ships arrive around 8:30am and they stay all day until about 5pm (at their peak a few years ago about 25,000 cruise ship visitors per day - every day was like Mardi Gras). Would you pay $700 a night to have a view of a cruise ship most of the day, NOT. I would recommend The Galleon Resort at the end of Front Street beside Hyatt - they have a small beach, an inexpensive cafe for breakfast & lunch, great unobstructed views of Sunset & Christmas tree keys. They are condos so you have a kitchen - food can be pricey in KW....

@@AdventureEncounters - another insight to Key West is if you are a beach person stay on Atlantic Side near Higgs & Smathers beaches or in upscale Truman Annex just south of Mallory Square, it reminds me of New Orleans / Charleston. The Annex is close to Ft Zachary Taylor park - probably my favorite beach at Key West. My comment about cruise ships - I have witnessed KW having 1 small cruise ship (500 passengers) dock at old navy pier south of Mallory Square on Wed and depart Thursday in 1985 to 2017 with 7-10 very large ships docking and most actually anchoring offshore. The former Westin / changed to Margaritaville / now Opal - my dad stayed there around 2000 and a coworker around 2017 - they were both extremely unhappy with the oceanfront view of the side of a 15 story cruise ship, along with noise if you wanted to sleep in, the crowds - couldn’t eat at hotel dockside restaurant

@@mikefulp1 I totally agree about staying on the Atlantic side. We stayed at a Hampton Inn that was extremely nice. They had a free shuttle to Mallory Square, and you can rent bikes there to ride around the Keys! And if you haven't taken a ferry to Dry Tortugas, I recommend that to everyone. 😁

The Dry Tortugas has been on our list to check out for the longest time! I heard you can camp there... that would be really cool! Did you take a ferry or fly? -Ashley

They have a Margaritaville in key west. That's confusing

When we stayed at this resort a couple years back, it was the Margaritaville Resort, but then it changed to the Opal Key Resort a week later lol. Since then (Nov 2021), they have created the Margaritaville Beach House Key West. Have you been to the new resort? Thanks for stopping by! -Ashley from Adventure Encounters

Great review, I'm sure it is still 5 o'clock somewhere, even though the name is changing. How was the hot tub? We are hot tub nuts, LOL, and we will schedule trips around hotels with hot tubs. And sometimes those hot tubs really disappoint.
