Hi Jimmy! I am currently studying for WSET3 and I found your channel completely by accident... and now I am sad that it took me so long to find you, as your videos are incredibly helpful and I have less than 3 weeks to go before my exam! Anyway, subscribed, and I'll probably go through a lot of your videos over the next weeks 😉

Hi, love your videos, they give very good overviews! Still as a oenology student sometimes I find some of your statements strange like pruning in summer? Do you mean the leaves? And in winter it is pretty important anyways to insure the plant does focus on creating grapes rather than excessive vegetative growth. It’s just some constructive Criticism from the other side, but I’d encourage you too to study some chemistry to understand maybe how easy you the passage alcohol -aldehyde -acid (acetic) is, having watched your faults video. Just my view on how you sommeliers view the world of wine 😉 thanks for your videos !

Hi Manu - yes summer pruning is de-leafing, de-suckering, green harvesting etc. Winter pruning is tending to the vine in its dormant phase. I work in vineyards here in the UK. I'm not sure what you mean by your second statement - in winter the vine is dormant and is storing carbohydrates (starch) in the roots (and trunk) to prepare for the next growth season. Your next statement 'passage...' is also quite confusing. Thanks for commenting!

The mint depends on the oak?

Hi Berit - not sure what you are asking - mint is a classic note in Merlot - but peppermint chocolate is more the Merlot combined with oak (toasting notes)

@@WineWithJimmy Hi Jimmy, thanks for getting back to me. At some point you say "there's a little more mint in certain merlot styles, but that depends on the oak", which I didn't quite understand. Huge fan of your videos a part from that. 😄
