Today we start a new series I want to call Key Comic Breakdown. This is where I take a comic from my collection and discuss what makes it a key, CGC census as well as what you can expect to pay if you want to add it to your collection! We start off with Conan's 1st appearance!

Ive had this issue for over thirty years…raw. I estimate that it falls between 5.0-6.0 if graded. One of my favorites in my collection. I’m considering cleaning, pressing, packing and grading.

The price jump is basically what high end collectors are willing to pay for the grade. Some people only want the best of the best. I personally own a CGC 7.0 Conan 1. I am happy with it. If I sell it, it’s only to upgrade it to an 8.0.

Definitely NOT the first appearance of Conan the Barbarian. Conan appears as early as 1932 in WEIRD TALES

Very true! This is just the one CGC and the comic book world has considered his first app. Maybe since Weird Tales was a magazine versus a comic.

This is the first comic book appearance of Conan the Barbarian. weird tales is a collection of short stories. Also, Marvels Conan is not exactly Howards Conan.
i bought 3 of these by accident in 1970 in atlanta mich as a kid and have every issue of every conan printed since than and have 3 num 3 as well all ungraded
