Wow love it. Did you guys consider cubes? Sleeving the low end with oversized pistons and maybe a stroker crank? Cubes makes huge power without much boost. Port heads, bigger valves etc.

Is it necessary to keep the insulation pad under the hood? I've heard many things about it, I know it's kind of a random thing to post on here but the explorer has a good roar to it and feel like the priority of the insulation being for cabin acoustics doesn't do it justice

No the engine is the last thing in worried about. Plus Ford offers a tune so you know the car can safely be modded because otherwise the wouldn't do it.

He's in it pretty deep because it was a 1 off turbo setup. And it was the first and still only big turbo st. We have hours and hours into r&d to get turbos to work with external wastegates and still be controlled by the ecu.

It's a dynojet, don't think they can provide enough load to show how it would spool on the street. A 3.5l engine doesn't need a huge turbo for these numbers.

Bone stock sealed motor. And we honestly don't really know yet 600-650 ft-lbs is kind of where we have been stopping at.

@georgiafan6618 the 3.5l does not have forged internals either. They are a cast piston and a cast connecting rod, always have been. The Pistons are actually very unique castings with inserts hard anodized ringlands, and a piston cooling gallery similar to what you would find in a diesel application. The rods are smaller and probably the weakest point. We have been working on upgraded internals for this engine for a long time disassemble one probably about a year-and-a-half ago now. The issue is the connecting rod, there is no good solution for it yet because it has an offset split. The factory internals are holding up very well the biggest issue we are seeing right now is bearing failures usually caused by oil starvation from launching with low oil.
