    Wow love it. Did you guys consider cubes? Sleeving the low end with oversized pistons and maybe a stroker crank? Cubes makes huge power without much boost. Port heads, bigger valves etc.

    Is it necessary to keep the insulation pad under the hood? I've heard many things about it, I know it's kind of a random thing to post on here but the explorer has a good roar to it and feel like the priority of the insulation being for cabin acoustics doesn't do it justice

    Nice and would love to do it to mine but you take a 150K - 200K mile engine and shorten it's life by half. Still awesome! I still would love to do a ZFGR Tune on mine!

  • @zfgracing

    @zfgracing

    Жыл бұрын

    @georgiafan6618 the 3.5l does not have forged internals either. They are a cast piston and a cast connecting rod, always have been. The Pistons are actually very unique castings with inserts hard anodized ringlands, and a piston cooling gallery similar to what you would find in a diesel application. The rods are smaller and probably the weakest point. We have been working on upgraded internals for this engine for a long time disassemble one probably about a year-and-a-half ago now. The issue is the connecting rod, there is no good solution for it yet because it has an offset split. The factory internals are holding up very well the biggest issue we are seeing right now is bearing failures usually caused by oil starvation from launching with low oil.
