There is a guy in Southeast Louisiana that so calls himself an expert on radios , he says he learned his skills in the marine corps , he also says that he has to work on a radio while it is in the truck , He doesn't have a shop , he goes from truck stop to truck stop in his car .... I learned about him from one of BBI's videos while he was in Phoenix AZ... BBI was at a reputable radio shop and that subject came up ...... He was in California , Arizona , New Mexico , Texas , then in Louisiana , he might be in Mississippi or Alabama by now ..... He really screws up radios and charges around 200 bux .... He also claims to get 200 to 400 watts out of a radio.... That should tell people to run right there .....

Thank you! Many people do theatrical videos and edit them but won't go live stream because they don't want people to see they really don't know what they're doing. I go live stream so that people can see in REAL TIME the work being done, the troubleshooting and how to use test equipment correctly. Thank you for tuning into my channel where you will also learn something new and ways to fix your own equipment.

This channel is all about showing and educating people about radios. I try to keep all videos very informative and in depth so people can learn and/or fix their own radios as well.

Stu, did you have access to a spectrum analyzer when you were first starting out years ago? Is it possible to align a radio without one?

Yes, as I learned how to use one back in school & was part of our exam at the end of the year for a final grade. I had to learn all the basics, then moved on to using it to align radios, used it to troubleshoot & analyze signals from AM/FM radio stations, RFI signals, AC HUM interference and much more. See Kevin knows I have diplomas, certificates & degrees in electronics and he has none. We spent over an hour showing him all of my certs and degrees and showing him how to use the service monitor while he was here for the wknd. He would call me daily asking how to program the unit to stay on his pre-sets. This is what happens when wannabes cry and feel the need to bash professionals. Kevin is just butt hurt I told him I wasn't going to teach him anymore and that was mainly because he refused to pay attention and started to do everything opposite and damaged a few radios along the way then called me for advice and I turned him down so here we are to with a guy from NH who has no clue what he's doing which clearly shows in his videos. As I mentioned before, everyone should watch his videos and compare them to mine, and other great techs and people will see a huge difference Kevin has no clue and stages his work on the bench to make it look like he knows what he's doing. The other part of your question is yes, you can align a radio without, but the spectrum analyzer will show more detail which is why it's important to have one on hand at all times. Guys like Kevin who has the same service monitor as I do thinks he knows what he's doing when he's only had it for about a year and still has no clue how to operate it. He has no books on it, refuses to read anything on it and only relies on KZread videos to show him how to use a few functions and features but is hardly anywhere close to the basics lol

Just because someone buy the same unit doesn't make them smarter lol I wouldn't buy an airplane because my neighbor di if I didn't know how to fly but just to buy something and act like you know something is just as bad which is what Kevin did exactly lol

I love using my spectrum analyzer because it shows me much more than any scope will. This way I can make sure all waveforms are clean and the radio is performing at its best without stressing the components. Anyone who doesn't have one really can't see if the radio is really producing what someone thinks it is because they watch their watt meter. Spectrum analyzer will let me see the harmonics where the scop does not show you that, I can see if there's any overdriven signal whereas the scop can only show so much based on the selection of frequency response, volts/division etc.

@@dxradioshop Don't let him bother you. You have a lot of people learning from you including me. Because of you I bought an old garbage cb radio from ebay and I'm trying to troubleshoot it. I may not succeed because it's a mess, but I'm learning a lot by watching you and practicing on this old radio. Thank you!
