KETV Omaha News Opens from the 1990s

A collection of news opens from KETV Channel 7 in Omaha, Nebraska. These were recorded on a VCR during the mid-1990s.
The clips feature news anchors Carol Schrader, Michael Scott, Ross Jernstrom, Bill Randby, Greg Peterson, Daniel Plante, Margaret Bumann, and Paul Bouchereau
Music is Signature from Stephen Arnold. VO is Ed O'Brien.
When I recorded these at a much younger age, I didn't realize the importance of leaving pad, so I apologize for the rough starts and abrupt endings on these.

One person who didn't get mentioned was Carol Kloss. She was an anchor/reporter for KETV from the early 80s to 2010.

Bill Randby first joined KETV in 1992. Jim Flowers was the chief meteorologist before then. He moved to WOWT that year along with John Knicely.

Holy flashbacks... I remember flipping back and forth to catch Husker hightlights each night at our farm, irritating my grandparents haha.

KETV still calls their newscasts NewsWatch 7 today. But now they include their call letters in their title. So now they're KETV NewsWatch 7.

Carol Schrader abruptly left KETV in 1996. She got into a disagreement with management and quit.

Why did she quit? Was it due to money?

1995 was the last year KETV could really market to Lincoln as KLKN-TV launched in 1996 as Lincoln's ABC affiliate.

Yes, but Lincoln viewers still watched KETV for many years.

Daniel Plante lasted about a year before leaving for San Diego... Rob McCartney would take over and has been the co-anchor since.

Ross Jernstrom is now at WOWT. And Ed O'Brien is no longer the voiceover at KETV. He hasn't been since 2013. I don't know who is now. A younger person, obviously. Michael Scott moved to KMTV in 1995 and was there until 1998, when he ran for Congress. Greg Peterson went to KMTV as well. He isn't there today. But Bill Randby is still at KETV today. He's been there an awful long time-25 years. Before that, Jim Flowers was the chief meteorologist at KETV. Then he moved to WOWT in 1992. EDIT: I don't quite know when Greg left KETV for KMTV. It was after Michael did, I know that. But here's another thing: Before Ed O'Brien was the voiceover for KETV, Charlie Van Dyke was. So WOWT's taken quite a few people from KETV-John Knicely, Jim Flowers, Ross Jernstrom and Charlie Van Dyke.

Greg Peterson is now an anchor at WPMI in Mobile, AL. I was watching coverage of Hurricane Nate and immediately recognized him from his days doing sports for KETV-and then found this video back from those days.

KETV is the only station in Omaha to use the same branding for its newscasts for the last 40 years-NewsWatch 7. KMTV used NewsCenter 3 for many years, then Channel 3 News, then KMTV News 3, KM3 News, Action 3 News and now 3 News Now. WOWT used to call their newscasts Action News, then changed to Channel 6 News. Now they're known as WOWT 6 News.
