Today let’s educate ourselves about Asantehene Kete.
The kete ensembles are made up of: Kwadum (leading drum) played with two nkonta (curved sticks), petia played with two nkonta, apentema played with both hands, aburukua played with two straight sticks, petia played with two curved sticks, three different sizes of aburukua played with two straight sticks, two joined donno drums (ta means twins) played with a curved stick, Motorola, and Odawara.
Kete drums are symbolic of the king’s crises, therefore, the drums are covered with red and black cloth that depict crises, matters of grave consequences, and grief.
