Kero Kero Bonito - Make Believe
Музыка
kkb + james hankins
from the album Time 'n' Place coming v soon
extra vocals by z (crying)
I set a watch
For five o' clock
I think of trees and rivers
As I'm drifting off
I pinch my wrist
(Just to tell where I am)
I get a twinge
(Seems as real as it can)
But I remain and so I know
The rest is up to me
At night
The sunlight beats upon my skin
In here I see everything
And until the morning comes
I feel it
All my life I tried
To find the time to make believe
But now as certain as the seasons
I know real life will get in between
If I never get
To decide my reality
At least I see how it could be
When I get round to sleeping
(Sleeping)
Dreaming
(Dreaming)
Works for me
And though my soul
(Lets me do what I want)
Is pretty bold
(In a place I belong)
From time to time my grip'll slip
And I just lose control
Then awake I freeze
But nothing in my head can hurt me
However real it seems
All my life I tried
To find the time to make believe
But now as certain as the seasons
I know real life will get in between
If I never get
To decide my reality
At least I see how it could be
When I get round to sleeping
(Sleeping)
Dreaming
(Dreaming)
Get round to sleeping
(Sleeping)
Dreaming

Not for me. Kkb reinforces the idea that I'm less happy than people who produce stuff like this, and that I probably will be this way forever. It scare me, I'm getting older and more and more time goes by, and I try to practice gratitude and self-improvement, work hard and save money. Yet happiness eludes me and I go to bed alone.

@@austins.2495 it’s important to take a proactive approach to building up the things that will make you happy, because just trying to happy on it’s own will rarely work. Making meaningful friendships is the main thing but there’s plenty of smaller things that will help (like regular exercise, keeping to a consistent sleep schedule, good hygiene, a clean living environment, face to face socialisation, and a rewarding [preferably fairly cheap] hobby) That said, covid is currently posing a problem to many of those but it’s important to make an effort anyway.

I'm pretty sure there are more unexpected than expected song releases
How they were able to abandon their previous bubblegum dance pop genre and pay homage to a more indie-style sound (akin to the mid oughts), WITHOUT sounding too contrived is WAY beyond me. Been following since 2014 and this band is incredibly consistent with what they produce. Always excited for that next BOP to DROP

2021: The Princess and the Clock, The Sneaker Dance I come up here to say: wtf KKB decayed? Now we have Cryalot, THE JLB (WHARFWHIT), Augustus Bonito, instead of KKB. Why do they change too many styles, just to see KKB discountinued? I know they may represent the human's life stage, from being a child to the grow-up, to become whatever god, but what next?
KKB is improving drastically both in musical complexion and style and I love it. While yes, I do miss the simple beats made by their synth pop, J-pop like songs in Bonito generation, this is a nice change of pace.

Still one of my most played songs when I need something self-aware, or something when I need a pick-me-up. For four years, this songs been there for me, when the things in my head, however real they seem, need to be made to be _not_ believed, if you get me.

M M I’m a big fan of the dude, he’s really chill and he shouts out underrated bands. I don’t just rely on melon for ratings though, I use albumoftheyear.org instead. Some of my favorite albums including house of balloons, my beautiful dark twisted fantasy, the sailor and currents all got mediocre or low ratings from melon man. I don’t let that get into my opinions, but I can’t deny he’s a very well spoken critic who can put you onto new sounds. I found out about kkb from melon but I really got into it from The Weeknd’s post about totep in 2018. And his opinion matters in some areas. I thought the chain smokers were ok, but his reviews made me realize how obnoxious their lyrics and repetitive chord progressions were.
