As the gentleman so eloquently stated numerous times. He has only been here 2 years. He knows nothing about being black in America. Why would the host ask a foreigner about the problems facing black America? This is a man whom fled his own homeland. Since when a guest can come to someone's house and tell the people of the house how to live in their house?

Jazz, it is narrow minded and intellectually dishonest to dismiss the "trickle down affect" that slavery and the JIM CROW politics has caused the Black community in the south. EX: I graduated from a Pac-12 college that was comprised of less than 2% Black student body. Now, when did the college integrate the school? The difference is that I graduated during a time of inclusion while others in the past were either denied an opportunity or experienced extreme harassment just for attending. In general, one cannot conflate two entirely different time periods into one, which is what the narrow mind tends to do. No one is a robot, and some are outliers. Every person is not capable of withstanding the same stress and pressure..

Ignorance is a terrible thing. He is able to sit there and say these things because of the sacrifice of people that have gone before him. We forget that a few years ago we were having conversations about black quarterbacks not being intelligent enough. It is easy to forget that black wall street was bombed and burned to the ground because black people decided to do well for themselves. That type of thing is what reparations is about. This dude Kibe is sick in the head to forget that black kids needed a police escort to go to school, and couldn't even ride a bus. We shouldn't mix conversations there is a difference between self responsibility and atrocities committed to a race of people, reparations is about paying back for the atrocities , it is not about personal responsibility. Shame on this brother for treading on the sacred ground that people like Martin Luther walked on for a better America, for all races, because it wasn't always that way....

@@paulmuriithi7596 There is always someone like that writes a paragraph with nothing to back up what they are saying. There is a difference between being responsible and policies that negatively affect you. If the IMF says a $1 dollar is equal to $160 shillings, there is nothing you can do in your power to overcome that stroke of the pen by yourself, it has to be overcome by policy changes, that are in effect because someone has set you up and you don't even know it. There's game that is being played that is way above what you are thinking, and by the looks of it its working. This Uncle Tom thing has been played so long, get people like Candance Owens to shit on black people, write books that say that Africans sold themselves into slavery, then Kibe has joined the ranks of Candace Owens with this interview. Winning a war begins with identifying who is working against you, but if you shit on your own soldiers..you do the math. The fight against slavery today is veiled in the rebellion against the mindset that made it ok to have slaves and defend it to this day. Slavery is gone but the mindset and policies that hatched it still exists and it is going strong.

I don't agree with Kibe's philosophy, but I think black people in America should rethink calling themselves African American and embrace themselves as simply Americans. This other identity works into the systematic oppression and is being used as a political tool to meet quotas and not drive change. It's okay to want to identify yourself with your origin, but if you really can't speak an African language, or even point out where your ancestors came from, or have no grasp of any African culture, can you really claim to be African? Africa is very diverse and encompasses all races, so being black alone doesn't make you African. Think of Jewish Americans and Latino Americans, they maintain strong ties with their culture and have a robust community as a result. They're very tightly knit and this helps them navigate the systemic oppression in the USA. A business run by Latino or Jewish communities will disproportionately employ people of their culture. It's the best way to insulate against external factors. If the black American re-established a strong cultural tie with Africa, they would have a stronger collective bargaining power. They would be able to liase with the African immigrant and form a strong African diaspora network. It's worth noting, the African is treated differently in USA from the Black American. In Europe, everyone is treated the same. Sure there's racism, but it's not systemic. It's just prejudice on an individual level. This is why I believe the black Americans should steer away from calling themselves collectively as African American as it plays directly into the systematic oppression rather than their heritage, and simply call themselves Americans. This way they can refuse quotas and make meaningful systematic changes by fighting for their rights as Americans.

You are crazy to think that this brother is doing anything good. Simplicity is not always a good thing because things are innately complex. It is easy to say Slavery existed 400 years ago, it is complex to think about the social structure after slavery, blacks couldn't own land, couldn't vote, couldn't go to school, couldn't get loans. They were always subject to violence, they were intentionally injured, raped lynched, to separate them out of society, and from economic activities. He can easily sit there with a straight face and say he has been here for 2 years and got a Mercedes, not thinking that he can sit there because of the hard work and sacrifice of many lawyers to change laws, many activists sacrificing their lives, so that black people and other races are protected and have equal access to things, and it is nowhere close to being equal today...but it is progress, because of people that think differently than this self centered numnut

Understanding the complexities of America is essential. While African Americans face challenges, it's crucial to acknowledge that Africans often encounter even more formidable hardships. Living in any African country as an aspiring individual presents immense difficulties. Comparatively, the challenges faced in America may seem less daunting. Many Africans aspire to come to America, willing to take on jobs that might be perceived as menial, such as cleaning toilets. However, they may be reluctant to perform similar tasks in their home countries due to the stark contrast in earning potential. In Africa, hard work often doesn't correspond to fair compensation. Affording something as commonplace as a smartphone can be a significant struggle. Africans aspire for a better quality of life, yet financial constraints often limit their choices. Unfortunately, the pursuit of a more prosperous life can sometimes feel futile in Africa. It's essential to highlight that the majority of Africans facing poverty are not lazy; in fact, they are among the most hardworking individuals globally. Their efforts are driven by the necessity to support their families, making success a crucial component of their lives.

The majority of Africans that are able to migrate to the USA either have professional degrees in STEM before getting here, or come here with the money to acquire professional degrees once they get here. The poverty-stricken African from the village is NOT getting a student visa to enter the USA. So you're basically getting the creme-Dela-creme of African society or the very few middle-class Africans that the continent has coming into the US for the pursuit of high demand professions. It is very rare to see Africans doing menial jobs for long. They are usually doing those jobs in order to support themselves while they are pursuing higher degrees. So it is not accurate to compare this small section of the African population to the whole African American population. As someone stated in an earlier comment, his arguments are very simplistic.

In order to speak on the issues, one must understand the histories of both groups. As a fellow Kenyan who has lived in the US for over 20 years, all black struggle isn’t the same. As people who immigrant here by choice, we didn’t have our names, religion and every identifier stripped from us. As a Kenyan, I know my mother tongue, what we eat, where we are from etc however the average African American cannot trace that because strategic genocide. They bred people here in the states purposely from different parts of Africa so there would be no common language in order to prevent revolution and uprisings. In essence, they turned a people inside out and erased them completely then molded them to what they think they should be. They still wear the names of the families that owned them and their ancestry is so scattered that they can not pinpoint exactly where their culture is from. Psychologically speaking self actualization is difficult when you don’t know who you are. Sprinkle in modern day feminism, government social programming, school to prison pipeline and the lack of positive imagery of black men and women in mass media…you have a cluster of issues. Even if black people got reparations, the money would go back to non black communities because our mindset isn’t right. So as Africans who have our names, language, religion etc we don’t have that same issue, that’s a key difference

As an American I would say the plight of black people in America is definitely improving and isn’t as bad as he says. Yes abortion is a problem in the community but he didn’t get to the root. Black people I think tend to be distracted by what’s going on in the world that shouldn’t concern them. The general Rap music of today is not good for us. It encourages such behaviors. Also the abortion problem goes for everyone. People want to have sex unsafely and then when faced with the repercussions of that choice the black man wants to abandon the female. It is a very shameful thing to do as a man to your own seed and is a reflection on yourself. I don’t have a child yet but when I do I will care for that child more than even myself. Common sense dictates that child is more important than you as he is younger and you can teach him/her things from experience. Having a child whether planned or not should cause the man to sit up and be a man regardless of the age.

Talking about letting anyone use the N word yet even in Kenya there are terms you can't use in front of other people because you saying it will be offensive to them. He talks about police brutality as if here in Kenya traffic cops shoot people for speeding. As if the police in Kenya break into people's houses just because of how you look or talk. He talks of himself getting a car in two years as if everyone is able to do that. There are millions of African Americans who have struggled and worked to be successful but have failed. Just because you have managed doesn't mean they didn't try and you are better than them. Somalis have come to Kenya and are more successful than many Kenyans who have been hustling for decades.
