I bought the DDX7015BT to upgrade the Perodua MYVI SE player. Huge improvement. Excellent features identical to yours except for the screen size. Its an excellent player but not without some shortcomings. DVD Region is locked to R3. It will not play video clips unless its reformated to 480P. Its not the same as home LCD TV which can adapt other higher resolution with ease. I can't use the steering control as my car don't have audio control on the steering. The biggest drawback on my Myvi, is strong front sunlight will interfere and render the screen visual as not easily seen. Another minor issue, is the ori remote is rather bulky. I bought a compatible but original Kenwood remote just to manipulate my USB music. I rip a lot of my music to FLAC format on a bunch of 32GB pendrives. I also realised it'll play music encoded at 24bit bit rate which can sound cleaner and more hifi. Later on I expanded the audio system with a Kenwood power amp and underseat subwoofer. Both these additional components enhanced the power and resolve. It just sounded much better. I would have loved to own the DNR series with the wonderful capacitive touch LCD screen but it cost too much. I designed my own wallpaper with Perodua logo and selected Amber Red lighting to blend with the amber red speedo instrument color. I also use my Samsung Galaxy S5 for mirroring. That's the BEST feature when travelling, I've got WAZE on Kenwood!..great! Since purchase, there's been one firmware upgrade sourced from Kenwood support site. Its the onus of owner to periodically check on firmware upgrades on their support site. Easy, follow the instructions, its no more difficult than upgrading PC firmware. The changelog only states "Improved stability of performance" The same firmware file also apply to the DDX715WBT and some others in the series. I had noticed a lot of firmware upgrades among various models to improve Bluetooth compatibility and performance. I once owned a Lenovo S920 phone, the bluetooth couldn't lock on till the phone was upgraded by firmware and Android version change. With my S5, no issues, perfect lock on BT. I hear new S6 do not have MHL video out, so mirroring will not work. Cheers to your review!

Thanks for your info sharing bro..really appreciate your comment too...yeah actually would love the DNR series too but the price is just too far fetch..so initially i planned to use mirroring for gps but actually, while playing your songs from your phone at the same running waze/google map, you can listen to your songs and navigate at the same time.not sure if you can use it like that on the DNR series but the tradeoff is using data. recently i heard google map is on the verge of going offline navigation..sounds really cool..

Appreciate your quick response too. I also noticed one hidden issue which must be addressed. The problem was intermittent and fuzzy FM radio reception. All along I had thought it was the lousy Myvi antenna system. Being electronics savy, I realised I didn't connect one output antenna control power line to the Myvi antenna system. There is actually 2 cable connections to the existing antenna, one is a power line (usually used to extend or retract a motorized antenna) and the signal reception cable. I only connected the signal side earlier. After some study of the Myvi wiring, establishing the Myvi antenna is likely amplified for best signal reception, it all clicked and I addressed the issue by making the connection...Voila, perfect FM reception thereon. I nearly wanted to send back the player to Kenwood under warranty and report a faulty tuner. My entire installation was DIY, not at any shop as I don't trust their work in this area. The DNR would be my ultimate desire, it have more, Wifi, Garmin, better screen. Sigh!..just too high priced.

+BS Lee whoah didnt know that..the guy who mounted my player was an expert so didnt have a problem with FM...but thanks for more sharing..people who read the comments will learn a lot..hehe the screen on this radio actually much better than the stock radio on the wish..my god..even though its not perfect but still a better choice...about the sound, so far i have no complaints although if u do have a power amp and better speakers heck that is the better choice..there are 6 speakers and 2 twitters for wish so..koyak la want to upgrade..slowly la haha i noticed the software is buggish a bit especially if you change modes when u just turn on the power..like reverse the car the rear camera comes up, when u go to Drive the screen maintains blue coz the software didnt return to its normal current state...but once u tap the screen it goes back to normal... hey man if u like my reviews if you dont mind subscribe to my channel? help a brother out hehe

1) Latest firmware available: www2.jvckenwood.com/cs/ce/mm/firmware/2015/2015b/eng.html It may cure some bugs you may have encountered. 2) The antenna connection vary among different cars. My issue was at the Perodua Myvi, all models I presume as it can't be any different. After all, the car wiring is based on Toyota standards, the audio connection plugs are Toyota, maybe some very slight wire routing. I'm sorry but this isn't for novices to fiddle with the electrics. Nevertheless the pin out connection is all clearly diagramed in the Kenwood owner manual (last few pages) for info. There's another wire to the headlamp, when you switch on the headlamp, the player LCD will automatically dim too to be less glaring at night. Hope yours is connected up. 3) Yes, I will subscribe to your channel, Thank you for your invitation. 4) Being a hifi conscious and lifetime passion, I have to admit after all I've done for my Myvi, Kenwood system + Alpine speakers (drop in replacement and no enlargement or silly mods), I've accepted the fact it sounds just OK and miles better than stock player...not among the very best but OK and accept for whats given. Its not my fashion to go for extreme mods like others. 5) There's one last feature I've not implemented, the reverse camera, I would love the original Kenwood reverse camera but it cost a bomb here and even more than some branded pocket digicam. Kenwood accessories are quite scarry here, so I see. Guess what, I've seen suspected Kenwood fake cameras for a fraction of original price. Anyway, I think I'll live without the reverse camera and rely on my usual eyesight, its much better judgement anyway.

+BS Lee where are u based bro? yes its very true about kenwood's accessories and high end product is very expensive..i like kenwood is bcoz of interface, quality oso..i tried using those OEM radio on my previous car...bluetooth function only last few months then die..the bluetooth for the kenwood is very reliable(so far). setting up the bluetooth is another story but yeah..reliable. reverse camera for me...its not necessary...but good to have.i always tell my wife this when she asks about tech stuff.sometimes visual cant cover everything but camera can give u assurance of the obstacle behind u..one time, reversing when someone parked a motorbike right behind my car...when enter reverse gear the sensor was blaring tot sensor problem..reverse a bit can hear the bike fall...so got la some advantage having reverse camera... i use the stock wish camera...pic quality is crap but gets the job done...got extra money only i'll upgrade the camera...

Hi bro. I am from Singapore. My dealer gave me this model when I bought a new car. Thanks for the nice review. Kudos to you. No wonder sometimes I cannot touch screen the play button selection at the menu of the DVD itself. Must use a remote control, that is so weird. Have not tried the mirroring yet...did not know that need to buy a separate module. Will try it soon and update to see if it comes with the unit. I have one big problem which I called JVC Kenwood up and they confirmed this problem. When you put in CD or DVD at disc source and the disc starts playing. After you reached your destination you will off the radio and lock up your car. Did you notice that the next time you on your HU and listen to the radio or use other source, the disc is playing continuously at the back silently. Then when one day you decide to watch the movie at where you last stopped on the disc source, you realised that the movie has been playing "behind your back" and the movie is not at where you last stopped. The same goes for music CD. I called Kenwood service centre and was told to press the stop button at the disc source everytime I switched on my radio so that the disc will not play silently while I am using other source...duh...that is so backward. They even told me to press the stop button twice at the disc source if I want to stop the disc, but that means going back to the beginning of the disc....that is so wrong. Can you try it at your side? Thanks for your help.

Hi bro, you wouldnt believe it if i told u in person...yesterday my car got broken into, and this radio is no more for me.yes i'm dying inside now. but to answer your question, it sounds like a software bug.i've done this so many times and the player remembers where i last stop when i turn off the radio and turn on again, or change mode.asking to press stop before doing anything is just ridiculous. perhaps you want to claim direct to the person who sold it to you? by the way..thanks for the nice feedback too!

Hi. Spoke to the installer who installed the player. First question he asked me was whether did I install additional AV out (eg overhead monitor screen which I did. He told me the player detected the AV out source and thus it will automatically play the disc. I have to manually go into disc source to stop the disc from playing. I am not the first one to encounter this problem. Did you install any overhead monitor?

check incoming 12v reverse light ok..but did not make reverse camera function.

Nice review bro..i'm using the dnr935wbt in my 2012 toyota wish..bought the unit from Brothers Wholesale in Kelana Jaya..got problems wit the software..it keeps on looping during startup..it wont show the main menu..luckily i set up the mode button on the steering to control the SRC.. thats the only way for me to go to each function of the headunit..might send it back for warranty claim..i'm from sarawak by the way..

Thanks so much bro...looping during startup sounds like a serious problem,yes i think you should claim. actually bought my ddx715wbt from brothers also and you shud be able to tell mine's a wish oso.the brothers i went couldnt install my unit because the bracket screws are custom screws, couldnt open them! had to go to ampang taman nirwana,got wish specialist to install together with steering remote control shown in video... brothers..cheap stuff..but lousy skills. beware! lastly, yes i am from sarawak too.

You mean its not compatible with iPhone 6/6+ now? its a 2014 model right? haiyak..haha..i still find it strange how kenwood promotes their product with wireless mirroring yet that feature is not available out of the box. Same here, iphone 6/6+ came out last year, same year with your model but not ready out of the box. have to wait for them release.. not saying its a bad product...kenwood is awesome...just the way they market..a little over selling i think.

I use Video to Video converter... just google Video to Video converter and download the free software...using that software convert to mp4 format, dont change any settings except clicking the video size to 640 x 360 resolution. Let me know if this works. If it doesnt, i'll probably do a tutorial video soon...do let me know...

Madd Syaffiq in the video i have described on how to make sure your videos are in the correct format and resolution. the player cant play all kinds of format and resolution so you need to convert your video first.
