I visited Kentuck Knob as an aside to a Falling Water tour and found it to be as delightful in its own way. Another great Wright house.
we never been to falling waters, but did visit here. It was great! I didn't see the piece of berlin wall and the phone booths.
So glad public can enjoy such a master piece.
Thank you for the history of Kentuck Knob. It makes your video even more enjoyable.
Enjoyed this. Well done. Cheers
Beautiful piece. My favorite Wright house. Thank you-
Great video
Really enjoyed the video as I did the first one. Thanks for taking us along on the adventure.
Another great video! Never knew of that house.
Not falling for the of the hill / nature boy hype here. It looks like a pill box bunkered into the hill.
Very nice; I appreciate having the history of Lord Palumbo's stewardship of the house. I wonder what is the source of the assertion that Mr Wright stopped designing furniture for his residences before the end of his career. . .

I was informed during my visit by the tour guides that Wright historically would offer to design custom furniture for clients commissions for a home, but by the 1950s he had paused this offering do to the demand he and is studio had for building designs. The Price Tower, a large commercial office building instead of a small private home, did get Wright-designed furniture. In fact, one of the Price Tower office chairs is now at Kentuck Knob as part of Palumbo's collection. But I do admit I am no expert of Frank Lloyd Wright and the information I was given may be inaccurate.

@@RedoubtProductions1754 Thanks for that. I've just looked at the Taliesin drawings for 15 houses built between 1955 and 1958. All of them had dining tables drawn for them; most had other tables, hassocks, stools and/or beds drawn, in addition to the customary build-in upholstered bench seat. But only three of them had dining or living-room chairs on the drawings. Perhaps that part of the story is what the docent was repeating ?

@@stephenritchings8135 It was about chairs. There is a original Wright table within Kentuck Knob but the Hagans contracted for a replacement table in the 1970s. Thanks for the additional information.
his work strikes me as needlessly expensive and wasteful of the clients money.. and they turned into money pits later due to insufficient waterproofing, termite proofing, rebar, foundation etc etc. its like the alpha romeo of houses.

Did columbo ask permission from Taliesin?
Are they the Hagen's of Hagen Daz? If so it is pronounced hog-en. No?

Hagan Ice Cream was a regional company in the Pittsburgh area. Hagen Daz is based out of New York. Similar spelled names, but different identities.
