Kentmere 400 - A Cheap 35mm Film
Kentmere 400 - A Cheap 35mm Film. This week I tried out a roll of Kentmere Pan 400 in 35mm. I don't shoot B&W too often but I have wanted to try out Kentmere for a while as I liked what I seen from other photographers + it's one of the cheapest 35mm films you can buy at the minute. I drove around and took different types of photos in different conditions so I think I got a good mix to really see what this film is all about.

It's always funny to me when people film themselves leaving a scene, because you know you gotta come back for your camera. Great video!

😂 It is a little strange when you think about it, but at the same time filming yourself in general feels strange lol

I used to vlog and I found it weird leaving my camera, skating off and going back to pick it up 🤣🤣🤣
Kentmere is my go-to b&w film for 120 at the moment. Can’t beat the price/quality ratio in the current market. Great vid as always 👊🏻

Cheers Brae appreciate it man ✌ I did like the look of your photos in 120 so I will have to try it out, it certainly is nice to have a lower priced option these days.
I just picked up a roll of Kentmere because it was almost half the price of HP5 and thought it was worth the try. Look forward to trying it out on an upcoming trip based on how your images turned out (I like the contrast). My favorite was the rainy lane with puddles. And of course the stop sign.

Hey Vincent, thanks glad you liked the photos. I agree that rainy lane photo turned out really nice. Hope you like the results you get, it's great to have a good affordable b&w option.
Loving the tree photo at 3:45! Also, Kentmere in 120 is my go-to black and white film at the moment!

Cheers man quite happy with how that one turned out. I kinda want to go back and photography it again. Oh really, you're not the only one to say that, I think I will have to try it out in 120 then.
Love Kentmere400. My goto black and white film. Good performer and a very affordable option.

It certainly is nice to have a decent affordable option for B&W. I look forward to trying it out in 120 at some point.
Here`s hoping😵💫
I have been an Agfa 400 user for B&W film. But I will have a try for Kentmere immediately!

I haven't tried out Agfa myself but I do like the results I see with it, so it's on the list. I mean for the price these days Kentmere is definitely worth a try.
Loved the shots from the coast in this one man. Kentmere looks nice and contrasty, but it does look like its missing the pop of HP5

Cheers man appreciate it as always. Yeah the beach made a nice change of scenery but I agree it was missing something I think, although tbh the light wasn't the greatest so you know how it goes haha
My favorite street film after TriX. Kentmere makes skin "glow" and makes contrasty building scenes. Plus, it doesnt curl up on me when drying, like HP5 has a tendency to do. $6USD isn't too shabby either. Cheers!

Hey! I really need to give Tri X a go I have heard good things about it. I just rarely shoot B&W but I will get to it at some point haha. Agree though $6 is pretty solid these days lol
good photos.

@Mac n Teens Visuals Do you think the fujifilm x-t30 or the sony a6400 or the OM-D E-M10 Mark IV is better for beginner hybrid shooter who wants to shoot photos and video?
@MacnTeensVisuals
Жыл бұрын
Honestly for us I think we made the right choice with the X-T30 it's just such a nice camera to use and the switch between photo & video mode is just seamless. The a6400 is also a great camera and tbh I don't know a lot about the M10 lol I would have to recommend the Fuji from my experience 👍
Is the self timer not working on your camera? it comes very handy when using a tripod to aliminate any shake from pressing the shutter

Yep it works fine, I actually used it a few times in this video 👍
What Messenger bag are you using at 6:55 ? I've been looking for one like that.

Hey there, It's actually just a relatively cheap little bag I got as a gift. I believe it was just from Amazon..
I haven’t tried it. But I will now. Like you, not a big black and white shooter.

It's definitely worth a try, as I said this was just one role so results may vary a little. I mean price wise it's a bargain these days haha
Hoping for you to review the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 😀

That sounds like a great one to try out, hopefully we can get hold of it at some point and test it out. I would actually like something around the focal range for the X-T3.
Kentmere 100/400 has a clear advantage over hp4 & delta 100. Less contrast up front equal more room to push contrast in post. The contrast isn't built in strong.

I guess you're right there having that room to adjust things in post is always nice but I also love getting my scans back and they look pretty much how I want them too with very little adjustments needed lol

@@MacnTeensVisuals I guess having less contrast in the original scan is more like having a secondary raw file.
Hi!! Using which iso number on your camera?

Hey there, I was just shooting this at box speed 400 ISO 👍
just shot it on my walzflex tlr. i'm more impressed with kentmere 400 than ilford HP5 400. it's now my new go-to. just bought a bunch more rolls.

Oh nice one. Glad you like it, I will definitely try it out in 120 from what I've heard it seems to perform better. Always nice to have a good budget option 👍
Actually, HP 5 is a cubic grain film , my mistake, but probably the best out there!!.

I use kentmere 400 b&w in my voigtländer vitomatic 3b camera, 35mm film.when the film is full,i let develop that film in a laboratory ,and hope ,that my camera works correct, and i get some good Photos .its a vintage german camera,i think ,from the 60s.

Sorry, for answering so late ,the photos have come back four weeks later, everything is developed perfect, my vintage german camera works fine.its a Real benefit, that my voigtländer don't need batteries, because it's a completely mechanical camera. Nex film will be kodak Gold 200/36,and kodak ultramax 400/24.have a nice day.
do you push the film, this this pan400 push to 2 stop is better.

I did not I just shot it at box speed which I think turned out okay but maybe next time.
Black and white on auto??? Are you nuts or what?
Who else has tried Kentmere 400 then?
@oneill.onfilm
Жыл бұрын
Not yet! But I am thinking of doing a couple of months of B&W and I will definitely shoot this. I love me some HP5 tho not gonna lie.
Not that cheap, for a level entry amateur film, it`s the same price i was paying for a 35 /36 frame roll of ilford hp5 a year ago, which i believe is a pro film. If and when the price gets to £ 10.00 a roll i might pack up and go home. 👍

I mean the price of film is a little crazy atm it's certainly not ideal. Hoping it doesn't keep going up :/
So if you're not a fan of black and white, why are you doing this video? Photos are not too inspiring.
