Kensai was the last straw, I'm done with Furay Planet!

Ойын-сауық

It's undeniable that Maestro Union Furay Planet makes incredible looking figures, the sculpt, the paint, the detail is outrageously good. Some of the best in the business. Yet.. the figures are often mechanically frustrating and over complicated.
Kensai the Nameless one is no exception. Another absolutely spectacular looking figure, goes great with Hunter Crocker, Veteran William and Weng the Blade Master, comes with a delightfully unhinged comic. Then he shares the same problems, all the gear and accessories quickly become onion layers as their flaws shin through.
The joints on the neck are over complicated and pop off, the barbell comes off the wrong piece so I'll need pliers to get it out, he is super spindly so while the excellent stand solves that, he cant hold much weight. He does have super light swords which he can hold easily but they are too weak for the heavy sword effects. So you can put them on and he looks spectacular, but good luck holding any kind of pose with them on the weak wrists.
If you were hoping he would scale well with your Fury Toys/Rage Toys Samurai Turtles, Samurai Autumn and Samurai Summer, no, unless you are into the true short king turtles, you could make an argument but otherwise this Furay Planet line of action figures is just much taller, does have very similar style and paint sensibilities though.
I purchase mine from Ailinna Toy ailinnatoy.com/
Mezco needs to take notes on how to make a stand, the included stand is really nice and smooth

This line is rife with annoying issues, particularly the joint tightness. Watching you suffer with the neck popping out at the wrong side of the dumbbell joint gave me nightmares of Weng's nonsense. They sent a replacement head for mine that was even tighter than the first lol. This is a brutally honest and thorough review. You actually broke the figure down and highlighted the defects wonderfully.

@@stygianhoplite thank you! It is rough as I'm really not trying to shit on the figure or the company, it just is what is it. I think they so amazing work but then they try to get too fancy with things and it ends up with some unnecessarily weird and bad joints where they could just do a simple neckband head peg and it would be fine. You are right about the tightness the fit on so many parts of their figures is really off, I can't imagine they have people testing them out and seriously saying "oh no the fit is great"

Idk why people are hating this line, it's a small 3rd party company, much more paint, details and articulation than neca, super 7, mafex, etc, I think it's a great figure line, imo.

I do too, but... They make some weird choices with joints, like his neck doesn't need to be that complicated. And his wrists and arms are just way too weak to hold the metal swords or the plastic swords with the effects on them. So I love it looks amazing. But I also hate it when I want to do anything with it

I was anticipating this swords master. After a couple takes yours and others I have to make a call on an order cancellation. It seems with some high end figures they resemble custom statues more then action figures. Pose and try not to ever disturb or move. Complicated and a test of patience. The concept to me was excellent. The paint apps very well done. The comic gave narrative, exceptional art. A super load out of accessories. The multiple masks was a draw for me. Then the examplery stand. The effects should of been thinner or smaller wrap around pieces if the joints were to be that loose.heck ratcheting would of been ingenious. Oh well custructive criticism is what I offer. Alot to work with in this specific release. Be well.

I got William and Blade Master, and I'm cautiously curious about this one. BM was a massive pain in the ass to swap out and of the parts. Regardless of the amount of heat I used, I still struggled. William on the other hand was a little easier, but the moment I hit those joints with oil, he was floppy. If I ever see this one on sale, I may get it.

So far other than the head joint which is a total pain in the ass... This one I haven't found hard to swap parts out. It doesn't always feel great like popping off the waist or arms but I haven't had a problem with it. The head joint is a real pain and his hands are just to weak to hold anything heavy. But other than that is great. So yeah. On sale would be really good

I got the white version of wen and he is pretty good broken in all the joints holds together well, i like the material of the figure. Id rather have the plastic it has then idk like abs in Mafex figures which i have and love. But there more fragile the plastic in these has alot higher elesasticity to the material. I think its cool designs alot of parts for the price though the construction and finish on the figure is abit cheap feeling. Sorry for the rant man. Though we seem to be on similar view point. Okay so I took time and watch the whole video and I realized your issue was that you can easily frustrated you need to take a minute relax stop rushing and figure out what's what. Your major problem was basically what you said before about being stubborn if you hated the figure it would have been easier mainly the head if you just heated up some water put the head in the inside the water from less than a minute such an easier time with the neck piece you don't need pliers it was easy to just pop back in in fact it would have been easier if you pulled the stem off of the head and put that back in the socket then put the hat on afterwards you could have aligned everything with the pain inside of the socket in the neck. You basically just frustrated yourself and unfortunately it's why you had the outcome you had I'm not attacking you I'm just informing you of the issue you were having and hopefully it will make it a better experience for you now knowing this this figure is so much cooler than you realize I just put a mezco samurai outfit on him and he's outstanding I know you have to do is put the belt that he can work back on him. As far as the hottest concerned that's just bad English they don't mean for you to lock in the head they mean that once you put the rubber piece inside that it now keeps the hat from shifting around on top of the head that's what I mean by luck it's not going to stay in place once you put it on top of his head. As far as the weapon fitting inside of his hand and it being too heavy do you want to turn the rest of this way the position of the pack is now going left to right instead of up and down this way it locks it in position when you put the sword in his hand

  • @toomuchnewtoys

The figure is cool, I'm not saying it isn't cool. But the Head Joint is overly complicated, I don't think they extra pieces ad anything to it or are needed for how the neck works, a simple standard head joint would be fine. If its designed in such a way that you need to heat it up for it to work okay, that's just a fail in my eyes. The wrist joints are fine for the plastic swords they hold them fine even if the grip is a little wonky, but the metal swords are far too heavy for the wrists and the arms, and then the effects just make it worse.

@@toomuchnewtoys like I said once you twist your wrist so this way they don't move up and down I don't have a problem no matter what sword I use. The head and neck engineer to sit this way you can get his neck and head to move with the collar piece on. When you pull the head off unfortunately you pulled it out of the wrong socket. If you had removed the neck and put the stem back inside the socket then place the neck back over the socket it would have been easier for more rain than articulation within the head. Not saying that's the way they had to go but at the end of the day it's still more feasible than the way a lot of other companies are doing it and it gives it a lot more range when done correctly as far as not heating up figures you need to be honest with yourself and realize that this is going to be a norm for a lot of new figures as a whole since they're using a different type of plastic and that goes across the board for almost all figures especially during cold months not to mention the fact that when we were younger it says I'm in my 50s I have experienced this more than you have we never knew about heating up my figures so we have more breakage than you realize and more than most toy collectors talk about.

Plastic/rubber clothes on a premium figure...lol. This just should not be a thing anymore; soft goods included or gtfo. It looks and feels shit and completely hinders articulation. As a figure photographer I don't buy anything with plastic clothes or exposed joints as it looks utter shite. I was considering getting this guy and completely stripping him down and customising him with soft goods/real rope around the waist etc but it's far too overpriced for how much of this plastic garbage I'd have to bin...the scale is an absolute deal breaker though as i was hoping to pair him with Nottaa's Enveloped Yaomo line (THE best 1/12 line ever made) but it's just not going to work.

Yeah its a very tall figure, which I think is good, but it does severely limit who you can pair it with and the type of stories you can tell unless you get into forced perspective and all that. For the cloth goods vs plastic, I don't really mind generally, though when there are multiple layers of plastic it does become a bit much and unwieldy where with soft goods fabric you can layer as much as you want, so I definitely think they should go that direction especially as they clearly like to really layer on the details and clothing. The biggest problem though is you really cant do much with the swords or anything the figure holds. The lightweight plastic swords are great but the heavy swords and then the effects are just way to heavy for the joints to hold
