Because he/Gremmy doesn't have experience of fighting due to imprisoned or locked in cage by Yhwach (in novel Bleach Can't Fear Your Own World). All Sternritters or even Quincies afraid of him due to his imagination power, except Liltotto; one of Bambietta/Bambi's friend who doesn't afraid of him. Lili is the only Gremmy's friend.

he can. But against Zaraki, that was the first time it was someone he wanted to win against, not to kill. If he wanted to kill him he would as we saw him LEGIT trapping Zaraki into a SPACE/VOID. People having the wrong idea that Grammy is dumb, but they don't get the idea that he wanted to win. After the meteor AND space/void did not work, it's only then when he wanted to win. But at first, he was just toying with Zaraki AND. When Zaraki did that speech, he STARTED to want to win against Zaraki. There's a difference between want to win, and want to kill. He didn't WANT to kill Zaraki, just to win

he's not lacking as I said before. He LEGIT imagined both Kensei and Rose dead which they were. The reason they are alive, is because 1: Grammy fought Zaraki which AS ZARAKI SAID, Grammy CANNOT have more than effect being active AT THE SAME TIME as strong as the original. 2 he was defeated by not being able to image a body strong enough to handle Zaraki's strength

They all have their limits, so he can't just do that in a middle of a fight. He can imagine someone being dead yes as he did to Rose and Kensei. But the only two reasons WHY they are ALIVE, is because one: Grammy imagination has stopped and two: Mayuri used his drug and capsule to "revive" them in exchange for their life span as they were zombies right after Mayuri's fight

This dude really pissed me off, he could invent millions of clones, a body the size of the metaverse, kill 90% of the Shinigami with less reiatsu than him. Imagine a coherent answer and intelligence, but instead he decided to play the fool and died like an idiot. In the end, at any moment he could have made it so that somewhere outside of the battle he would always have a living clone on a permanent basis so that he would not die completely, the dude could do anything, but he was leaked for the sake of the plot

it's not that. He has limits after all. Bleach is very strict series with Reiatsu. For example, if he can't imagine himself healing fast enough after getting attacked, the enemy would just keeping on attacking him like Zaraki did. And the first imagination would get weaker if he imagine a lot of things as Zaraki said that his imagination powers couldn't continue forever on Yachiru since he is fighting Zaraki, to which Gremmy agreed. Gremmy is a brain who was taken by Yhwach and Yhwach gave him this power. So this entire fight ISN'T about winning or losing, it's about a guy who always loved fighting (Zaraki) and had a freedom to do what he wanted. On the other hand, Zaraki is a brain who never had a chance to go to the outside world. And even if he did, most people were afraid of him, so fighting wasn't even a thought as they knew he was too op. In the manga, Hashwalth wanted to even others to protect Yhwach when he saw the meteor, but Yhwach just watched as he knew what would happen. So even if he does imagine something, his powers are still unmastered against a guy who can cut anything

as I said before, this fight is how Zaraki and Gremmy are the same person yet different, and one loves to fight and has the freedom of doing so, and the other one was being locked in and saw no reason in fighting cause he could just kill anyone. He has this power yes, and DID kill both Rose and Kensei, but his powers are limited. And if he's not concentrated enough, the first imagination would just be weakened

I love how simple and yet brutal Zaraki's shikai ability is. Basically "the ability to cut anything, even formless things like space". No wonder Gremmy lost, Zaraki is basically a Touhou character with that power!

On the other hand, Gremmy is a brain who was being brought by Yhwach and his freedom was taken away by Yhwach. And when Gremmy got outside as an actual human body, everyone knew he would body them, so there was no reason to fight them so he didn't had a reason to fight. And when Gremmy fought the others, it was shown how op he is. But when he fought Zaraki, it was the first one who Gremmy actually wanted to win against not to kill him. So it was to show that he didn't get any experience fighting and got his freedom by Zaraki, plus he is a brain who later was used to be for Hikone in the light novel

you know he has limits right? He can imagine someone dead, but imagine something like this while fighting Zaraki, wouldn't work cause Zaraki would be too fast for him. Just like when Gremmy thought he killed Zaraki by trapping him underground by having him trapped in the water, Zaraki cut him too fast. Gremmy couldn't heal himself fast enough because he didn't notice the wound which is what Zaraki noticed and kept on attacking him which made almost Gremmy imagined himself losing thus Zaraki did the entire speech. And assuming he did, what then? No one besides Zaraki could really deal with him in the Soul Reapers besides Aizen, Kisuke, and Mayuri. Which even then, even Mayuri wouldn't

Also, this fight isn't about winning or losing, it's about two people who one loves to fight and could always do what he wanted, and the other one who is a brain taken by Yhwach and was locked in without seeing the point of fighting as he knew he is the strongest and everyone were afraid of him so he saw no point in fighting nor killing

it's not about winning and losing for this fight, it's about how Zaraki and Gremmy are the same person yet different one loves to fight and has the freedom of doing so, and the other one was being locked in and saw no reason in fighting cause he could just kill anyone. Grammy LEGIT was a brain who Yhwach took in and did not let him out until that fight

he did imagine that he wouldn't be able to cut him a few times during the fight. It's just that, Grammy can only use his powers and imagine things with 100%. And if he happens to try to imagine another thing, the first one which he imagines will not happen anymore. This is why Yachiru's arm is okay, this is why Rose and Kensei are still alive even after imagining themselves dead which they were. As for why he didn't imagine Zaraki dead, he could have, but Zaraki was just him, and it wouldn't work. Also, Grammy wanted to win that fight and imagined Zaraki's death wouldn't count as a win for him as never had someone to fight like that other than Zaraki.

@@soul8648 I don't recall the fight too too well, I read the manga when it first came out and am waiting for the whole arc to be finished before watching. But anyway, I guess I was just really underwhelmed by Grammy since his ability should've been damn near impossible to beat but honestly Zaraki was like a kid in a candy shop.

I would imagine it's like he can imagine himself as powerful as he wishes to be, but he cannot wish someone stronger than him to become weaker. Yachiru got her bones turned to cookies, but that would not fly on someone like Kenpachi. If he imagine's Kenpachi's heart stopping we also have to take into consideration if Shinigami (who are souls) actually HAVE hearts in the same way living humans do. Would stopping their heart do anything.. assuming they even have one? Does this vital organ play the same role in their existence? They are not physical beings. Fights in Bleach are all Energy vs Energy. It would be stupid if someone with a broken ability can defeat someone vastly stronger like that. Also Gremmy's imagination is limited to his creativity and panic levels. When he stops focusing on one thing with an awareness of its own, the effect ends. Maybe even all things he imagines into existence vanishes the moment he stops focusing on it. So MAYBE if stopping Kenpachi's heart had an effect, he would have to keep that heart stopped by focusing endlessly.

@@Catonzo realistically it would work, but going of how HIS powers works and Bleach's logic of powers it would not. Also, it doesn't matter if Soul Reapers are souls, they still breath etc, so they do have hearts but not as it works for us due to the age differences and the fact they are SOULS. So they still functions as us, but as you said, energy vs energy aka Reiatsu. So, Zaraki is just HIM, so it wouldn't matter. Also, Gremmy wanted to win not to KILL, cause he is a brain that Yhwach took in and locked him away cause of his powers are too risky to keep. Don't ask why Yhwach gave him these powers, cause I dunno lol. He never had anyone he wanted or thought of killing cause everyone were afraid of him and so, this is why he is cocky and just does what he thinks. Also, it's hard to imagine someone's heart being stop WHILE fighting them as you said, if he imagine more than one thing, the other first thing would get weakened even Zaraki AND Gremmy stated it
