yea, probably half the people on this thread don't even know who he is, unfortunately. Even sadder is that some folks think this is a better version that Guy's - hahahahahhaha..

This might be my favorite song U sing. It really glows with feeling with that melody, your voice and that lead guitar. It's quite a song.

U just write what comes out if U are for real. Life is harsh sometimes so harsh comes out and the reflection like Ernest and grandfather's. Nice acoustic lead. Beautiful.

This song always reminds me of my grand father and my late father in-law. Some real good men in my life. RIP grandpa and Randy.

My grandson is a grunt in the army. His first assignment was my airborne unit in Vietnam. I am so proud of him. I helped raise him like having his father again. We went Universal 4 days a week, him and me so I "get it" about grandfather's.

Guy Clark's performance was better.

I was at this concert. I was surprised he played this song because while it’s one of my favorites, he very rarely does it live. Possibly because the show was in Austin and that’s where Guy Clark is from I believe
