This song holds a lot of memories for me. When this song came out I was an 18 yr homeless girl, and I would take the bus down to Inglewood/LAX to go work my shift at the strip club. I remember always listening to this song on the bus and thinking how much I wish I had a real money tree so I can afford a safe home and stop stripping. This was one of hardest times of my life. Thankfully I got a full ride to UCLA a few years later, stopped stripping, and the rest is history….but I never stopped listening to this song. The emotions it brings up in me is the same as it was when I first started listening to this song 9 years ago.

I know where Rock is coming from at 4:34. I used to live in LA as a kid with 6 other family members in a house on the second floor. It was pretty small, and every thanksgiving day we wouldn't celebrate it. We didn't have the money to afford a turkey or the proper equipments to even make one along with some other food. I went almost 13 years without trying my first turkey or celebrating thanksgiving. Now we are much wealthier, and hearing songs like this reminds me of the older days when we didn't have much, but family and a roof over our heads.

Been listening to this song since I was 9, I am now 14 turning 15 soon and I can never get enough of it at all, money trees, pride, swimming pool, n95, elements, DNA. Kendrick Lamar you are just perfect when it comes to making music with a meaning, always a message in ever song you create and every song you feature in. Without you I wouldn’t have had any motivation to do any of my homework. It sounds minor but as soon as I put my headphones on and listen to you, all my Conscious, GRIT, and motivation flows through my body.

I believe that anyone who comments this was on Tick tock, found out about it on here, and rushed to the comment section to type this.
The one in front of the gun lives foreva... Those guys still live in our playlists, hearts and minds. Rip X, and all the kings that left the world of hip hop the way it is rn.
So many stories related to this masterpiece. Felt good going through the comments. Music connects us all.

still one of the best songs in HIP-HOP EVER!!!! can we still get an actual video in 2020
Outstanding flow 10/10 i give it all to Kendrick Lamar
This track got me through some rough times though for real. love this
I wish I could go back to when This was made, being so young I was ignorant and hearing songs like this, the simplicity represents my whole reality. I appreciate the knowledge of the sick world we live in but this simple time is what I dream of reliving..

+Kai Turner You said it man, just imagining driving around with some homies to this, like the world couldn't touch us. Unfortunately now I'm often against the world, not on top of it.

Kyle Norton I saw a comment a while ago on one of Capital Steez's video's which went along the lines of "Enough of the anti - gov stuff just enjoy your life." I don't entirely agree with it but it makes me think.

You think this is old school? No offense to Kendrick but the boys over at pro era kill it. Just search pro era radio and they kill it and it's got that old school vibe. Kendrick kills it also none the less

+primetime You Think Pro Era is old school? No offense to Joey, Dyemond, Kirk, Dirty, Swankmasta, JAB, Nyck, T'nah, and STEEZ(rip) but loyle carner kills it. Just search October ft. Kiko Bunz and they kill it and it's got that old school vibe. Pro Era kills it also none the less

Hands down the best song there is out there , in 2022 still as hard as ever and I’d say even better. Ages like fine wine!
Goosebumps 2022 just recently bought the cd never gets old 🔥🔥
This is one of the best hip hop songs ever. This album is in my top ten best hip hop albums of all time .I am an alternative / classic rock kid but I love great hip hop and this year with Eminem, Drake , Chance the Rapper, Childish Gambino and Kanye ( AKA doochebag of the year forever) producing hip hop that makes me excited in my white boy pants again I have to say hip hop is back Kendrick you are a rockstar.
This song is like a movie ill always re-watch, what a masterpiece.
Late 2012 , early 2013 were by far one of the best moments in my life
Then Usher Raymond Let it burn came on, That Burn Came on... Hot sauce all in our Top Ramen, Ya Bish Ya Bish... This Song will forever be a Banger for many reasons. Some emotional, some hardships, some losses, some good times, some failures , and some accomplishments.
The beat to this song just makes u wanna cruise around w the boys.
