Met this guy in Birmingham UK when he was on a teaching trip, 2006, taught us that we shouldn’t listen to hype about Basics or Fundamentals like 6 step… nobody counted the steps back in the days and he still doesn’t count today! Everyone was in awe of Ken as he’s one of the creators, they were all acting cool even as he spent his birthday with us on his tour… a lot of typical cool hip hop heads really didn’t get what he was saying about being “yourself”. Great man great skills and great passion! Love this guy!

There's a lot more actual DANCING in Ken's style than kids nowadays, his combos reminds me of an amped up Frosty Freeze (RIP) style which was a more foundational style (old school some would say)...

Real b boying back then. Now it's more gymnastics then real break-in. Never saw Swift but I used to see legs often in the BX. Always liked Ken's style more.

Concordo com você. A dança Breaking hoje em dia é tanta ginástica que inclusive querem incluir nas Olimpíadas. Breaking é dança, não esporte. Isso tudo é culpa dos campeonatos promovidos pela Red Bull

Well if yall were around back in the day when it all started than you would know whats up.what to do think breakin is all about? There are so many moves from gymnastics.today there is alot of stuff we use to do that they dont do anymore.i think we were more smoother.today its all too fast.even the music is too fast.like how do u even know when someone messes up? But anyways im glad breakin is still around.im glad its in the olympics.as a kid back in the early 80s breakin on carboard somewhere i couldnt even imagine it would be ever in the olympics.who cares that they call it a sport.it is a dance.a style of dance.but you do compete against others so than it would make it a sport.red bull helped breakin stay in the mainstream.where do u think it would be today?there is alot about it today that i dont like.just like i dont like the rap today.but things change.they evolve over time.just like i use to freestyle on my gt pro performer back in the 80s too.they do that shit anymore either.they dont even make the bikes the same.look at djs today.no vinyl.they dont use plain old mixers and tables.everything is programed.they got laptops and they dont even use record players.i dont like that shit either.but than again shit evolves.but to get back to breakin and gymnastics.lol.you dont know shit about b-boyin'

I always thought Kuriaki was as good as Ken Swift. There were some top B Boys back in the day.POWERFUL PEXSTER, LIL LEP, FLIP ROCK, KID NICE, ICEY ICE, CHINO ‘ACTION’ LOPEZ & GLIDEMASTER of THE NEW YORK CITY BREAKERS and KEN SWIFT, KURIAKI, FROSTY FREEZE, LIL CRAZY LEGS, CRAZY LEGS himself & the TURTLE MASTER,BUCK 4 of ROCKSTEADY CREW.I would have loved to have seen a full on battle of these two crews back in the day.BEAT STREET showed a glimpse of what could have happened, but a FULL ON battle, with everything going down would have been awesome. Also a body popping challenge between MR WAVE of the NEW YORK CITY BREAKERS & MR FREEZE of the ROCKSTEADY CREW would have been a real eye opener. Its a shame it didn’t happen. As soon as NEW YORK CITY BREAKERS lost GLIDEMASTER in a motorcycle accident, they split up.Its also sad that we lost BUCK 4 & KURIAKI a few years later as well.Still haven’t seen a better turtle than BUCK 4s.That guy made walking on your hands look so natural.A pity BEAT STREET didn’t show the TURTLE challenge between him and POWERFUL PEXSTER in the subway, during the UPROCK challenge. There are photos of it,but I haven’t seen it.Has anyone else seen it?

THE BEST BBOY EVA!!! I started in Detroit 1983...love all the BBOYS from NY to LA, across the globe. You the power moves BBOYS, UP ROCK BBOYS, FOOTWORK BBOYS etc etc... but to me Kenny is the best all of the STYLES in one person!!! I was only good at footwork and some power moves(WINDMILLS, ORIGINAL (1980's)FLARES, UFO's and Fast Head Spin(kindly what Crazy Legs did on Beat Street Roxy Battle, but I would spin real fast for about 7-10 secs then flame out. Kenny is the best all of the STYLES in one person. P.S. have people forgot who Lil Alex was??? ...to me he is who of the most underrated OG BBOYS. His Power Moves were before the times!!!
