I bought my first Mustang when I turned 17, it was an 89 GT Hardtop - I went on to own 3 foxes (among other Mustangs), but owned a '91 GT Convertible in hunter green and gray. It was an automatic, wasn't especially fast and also had convertible top issues like this one (as they were putting their kit together I was thinking "and a relay, and thermostat and some hydraulic fluid for the top". But damn, it was such a fun car - it was literally my best friend. And then I crashed it being stupid. But anyway, they really are great cars, and just a blast to drive. A couple of notes - convertible 5 speeds are rare and from the sound, it sounds like it's got a gear. They cleaned up the luggage rack on the lid and added a small spoiler. The dash says 25th anniversary, so it was either 89/90, but the seat headrests are smaller than what came in those years (I'm assuming this car is an 89/90 and they just replaced the headrests). Has a Cobra Intake and they added white face gauges (which are a complete bitch to install, trust me) as well as an exhaust and who knows what else. The wheels suck, it needs 5 lugs, the brakes are atrocious in them and it definitely needs work - but the fact it's a 5 speed makes this one a gem. I'd take it in a heartbeat. Such a fun car for $4k.

I literally just did this last weekend. Left Friday morning and cannonballed to Iowa with my girlfriend bought a fox for 5k, went to a meet Saturday in Tiffin, and then road tripped all the way back to East TN Sunday in the car. No roadside assistance, a 300 piece tool kit, zip ties, and no radio. That’s living.

Can’t wait to see how far this mustang comes, because we all know it’s gonna get cleaned up and decked out and I’m gonna love every second of it🤘🏼😍

Jake Ouellette keep the 5.0, Stroke it to 347, AFR185 heads, an on3 turbo kit in it, custom grind cam, 3.73 gears full 3” exhaust, world class T5 trans and upgrade the clutch. This bitch would be BAD. gotta do somethin about that steering angle too but that’s nitpicking.

I had an '87 GT with T-tops, it was immaculate, loaded, and ran like new. I loved that car. I had planned on keeping her for life, but an emergency came up and she had to go. I wish I'd never sold it, but I had to. What I wouldn't do to get her back! The young guy I sold her to came back to the house a month or two later asking if I had an extra set of T-tops. He forgot to lock one down, and it flew off the car and was destroyed. My daughter used to love driving around with mom. She and I used to go to the local car meets on Thursday nights. It was a blast! I miss her a lot.

It's the SILVER FOX from Hell. Upgrade the suspension, cage it, little work on the motor, and a new shift knob.

Everybody has to own a 🦊 at least once in their life! 👍🏻 I had a 90 GT 5.0 all black.

"I like the thought of it" reminds me of high school when these came out. the real early ones even had a v8 version less than 100hp.(not kidding) my neck of the woods, like chevies.. could not leave them alone at all. I had a 78 zephyr and more than once wanted to swap their mustang stuff in. That sound is forever a piece of american history.. timeless. power doesn't even matter sometimes. Still great to cruise around.

Yea i have a friend with a kinda clapped out Fox hatch with a shorty Flowmaster dual setup and it just sounds old school cool. Not the fastest, my little RX7 can keep up in a straight line until after you break all speed limits in America then gets ate, but still lol.

You can make the mustang II look good with a bit of bodywork, and they are super light weight (its basically a pinto) so just engine swap one with a good 302.
