This is a pocket pistol. By adding the 10 round magazine it is now a holster pistol. Some of your viewers might like to use this gun as it was intended (in the pocket) so your "fix" might not be a fix at all, it is simply your personal preference. I agree with the replacement of the plastic guide rod but to be fair, once the gun is assembled there isn't any pressure on the guide rod anyway. I like the gun just the way it is from the factory.

Agreed. The 10-round mag is best relegated to the role of back-up mag; it is suboptimal for carry.

Changing the guide rod makes no difference, it is just a place holder. hollow point bullets are a waste in this gun cause they don't have enough velocity from such a short barrel. What you need is plain ball rounds, penetration is more important with such an anemic round I know I was robed a shot six times with a p32 . Hollow points saved my life as they did not penetrate far enough into my body to do critical damage.

@@yankee1985524 Just watch .32 Auto ballistics gel penetration tests. Any JHP that penetrates adequately does not expand; any JHP that expands doesn't penetrate enough to reliably reach vital tissues. Thus, JHPs in .32 Auto are an expensive waste.

@@tomrogers5862 Also sounds like european brands tend to load their ball 32acp a bit hotter with slightly heavier bullets; S&B, Fiocchi, etc. 73gr bullet instead of 71gr with a bit more propellant or something. Might be due to europe having a longer history of the 32acp as a military/police issued round?

WARNING: if you decide to use hollow points in the p32 order Kel-Tecs " rim lock" kit. For whatever magazines you're going to carry hollow points... If you want a magazine to shoot hard hardball pick up an extra magazine with no rim lock kit and dedicate that to hardball only...

I have had two P32's and both worked great with the plastic guide rod. I have heard and read many stories by people who replaced the plastic rod with the KT metal guide rod and started having lots of jams until they put the plastic one back in the gun.

My P-32 has 500 flawless rounds thru it. One great pocket pistol. The short grip is no problem. I can shoot it with 1 hand or 2. You want a pocket gun? Something to throw in a jacket pocket or take when you go jogging? This is the one to get, will take care of an angry pit bull, or a mugger. Seriously! A gun I never leave home without. There is nothing wrong with the plastic guide rod, but there are metal ones available.

You’re right and brilliant w/ everything but the hollow-point. I love my p32 and so does my wife, and I have the same 3 issues. I’ll paint and order a new guide rod. Already got 2 extended magazines, but I don’t use them when I carry it. Just at home in bed stand. BUT I read all over the place that the hollow-point isn’t as reliable in these smaller pistols especially when using extended mag.

the reason hollow point ammunition is not reliable in the KEL-TEC P32 pistols is because of 'rimlock' which is caused by too much gap inside the front of the magazine. There is information on the Internet and on KZread of how to add a piece of metal to the inside of magazine. This stops the jamming malfunctions when using .32 acp hollow point ammunition.

All the mods for this can be had from Kel Tec, guide rod, extended mags, I put a Nitesiters glow in the dark strip on my front sight. One thing I have not seen mentioned is trigger slap this is only gun I have ever had that problem with, I bought a metal replacement trigger for a Ruger LCP and made it fit (not for the faint of heart or those not mechanically inclined), shooting it is now enjoyable. There are some other outfits that sell modifications for Kel Tec guns also. Excellent carry gun.

I got mine about 9 years ago. Back then the first thing I did was take it apart and polished the barrel and ramp. I got a steel guide rod. I use hard ball ammo it keyholes when it hits something. around 3000 rounds the frame cracked. I sent it back to Kel Teck and the replaced it and did a trigg er job on it. It is always in my back pocket in a Uncle Mike wallet holster. in Cold weather i carry my glock single stack 45acp.

FYI: I was firing Cor-bon ammunition through my P32 at the range when it jammed half-way back after firing. Nothing I or the RSO could do would clear it, it jammed HARD. I ended up clearing it with the gun in a soft vise with a punch down the barrel into the empty brass. The Cor-bon was recoiling so hard that the slide had mushroomed the front edges of both rails. My solution was to file them down until it was free and never shoot such a hot defense round again. I'm sticking with silvertips, hot defense round are useless if they aren't reliable in your gun...I think the rails might be aluminum? Not sure. They sure did file easy. This was my ankle gun, now I'm looking for something else to carry there. I no longer trust it, even though this was it's first issue. I like the idea of replacing the guide rod with steel, I'm going to do that, but I'll round the tip and blue my nail.

+351WINCHESTER: Yes to rim-lock with JHPs -- and with the shorter OAL flat-nose FMJs. It can also happen with round-nose FMJs that are 1mm short of spec. I don't trust rim-lock kits. I load 1 Gold Dot HP in the chamber and 1 GDHP as the top round only in a magazine of full length FMJs. 1) It’s a micro pistol, and you don’t aim a micro pistol, you point it. Practice drawing on silhouette targets at close range without looking down the top of it. Literally point and shoot. With enough practice, you’ll get better at it than you think. 2) The grip size… it’s a micro pistol. You’re only getting 2 fingers on the grip. Saying that’s a negative is like saying you’re disappointed the Indonesian lawn chair you bought at Walmart broke after one use. 3) The guide rod… yeah replace that plastic crap. I did.

yes the shorter length of the .32 acp hollow point rounds cause rimlock malfunctions, but can be easily fixed by adding a 1/16" inch wire to the inside of the KEL-TEC factory magazines. 💥 There is information on the Internet and KZread on how to add the metal wire to the magazine.

I load mine with Buffalo Bore hardcast SWC. I think I will pay the gunsmith to make me a flyerwire. Although I was told that rimlock will not occur if you load carefully, making sure not to push the follower too far down, I did have rimlock once at the range. I check the mag periodically, unloading and reloading the rounds and so far so good, although I didn't think about the rimlock under recoil issue. That wasn't mentioned as a problem by the smiths I talked to. What I love about the BB is that the foot pounds of energy combine with the hardcast SWC to deliver a bullet that is nearly the equal of a hardcast SWC 38 special. Good stuff. A good reference work for up close and personal is _Shooting to Live_. In one of the most violent cities on the earth at that time, Shanghai under the English boot, the cops managed to do well (unfortunately) against Chinese crooks and rebels using 32 and 380.

You may have an issue with your choice of ammo and it's called "rim lock". The rim of the round locks up on the round below it causing a failure to feed or jam. Flat nosed fmj ammo will do the same thing. Ball ammo shoots flawlessly in these pistols. Trust me on this. None of the fixes to the magazine to make it shoot hollow points work. Other than that, these are great "get off me" guns.

Lelen Bates The problem with .380 in an LCP is felt recoil and re-sets. A FMJ 71 or 73 gr. .32 acp is fine for self-defense. JHPs are a little too short and lack penetration. I tried out a P3AT, LCP, Kahr P380 and a Taurus TCP. Hand cannons with really stiff barrel flip...no thanks So, I dropped down to a P32. Perfect. Last round hold, unbelievably light and invisible. Bought one for my wife, too. She LOVES it. EDIT: A P32 has 7+1 in DAO. That's an extra round, no slide racking and no safety to fool with. Perfect point and shoot.

The oal of the hot fiocchi or Geco or S&B fmj, which are heavily recommended, take up space in the mag that doesn't allow rimlock of the shorter Underwood rounds.

Hollow points reduce the penetration into ballistic gelatin from about 15"'s with FMJ to 8 inches with HP's.

I own a p32 gen 1.. my son owns a p-32 Gen 2.. thousands of rounds between the two guns have been fired not one stoppage.. have had no problems with the plastic guide rod... Many polymer guns have plastic guide rods... Never had one break or heard of one breaking really not an issue

why put a hp in a 32? it's just going to make the round less effective unless, maybe, shooting someone in a thin t-shirt or topless.

Mojo67, the tomcat .32 is near perfect, but...it weighs twice what kel tec does. Pico is excellent, alas only comes in 380, and handgrip is way too small. Diamondback db9 is also in the ballpark with 124g.

I guess this was 8 years ago but the steel guide rod is literally 5 dollars lmao. You can get a whole new slide for $70, every part is super cheap for the gun from the kel tec website

Great mod with the nail. I never would have been brave enought to try that. Let us know how it works out. I have my little Tomcat and my dad's old Colt 1903 (I think that's it) in .32. Both are fun to shoot, if a little pricey.

Well first issue is you're doing a review and complaining the small group when the sole purpose of the Kel-Tec 32 caliber was for concealed carry. Hence the reason it has the small fixed sights so there's less snag. So with an extended clip it pretty much defeats its sole purpose. Honestly this is the first time I've seen one of this guy's review videos and to be truthful I think it might also be his first

Don't use hollow points in 32acp the do not expand and cut your penetration in half. FMJ 12 inches JHP 6 inches 0 expansion

You have NADA about reliability in this video, making it useless for anyone wondering how good it shoots. And this IS a "mouse" gun, about which people typically have questions as to FTFs and FTEs. You need a Part II, Dude, showing you cranking out the shots rapidamente at the range. THAT will make people believers! Or not.
