@@yourmajesty7604 WORD! I’ve been a fan of Kelly’s since she was on Idol and I’ve only recently become a Taylor Swift fan. Perhaps she doesn’t have Kelly’s amazing vocal ability, but Taylor’s voice is lovely and she is one heck of an amazing songwriter. They’re both queens and they both rock.

Geez the people in the comments. Can’t we appreciate Kelly’s cover without putting Taylor down and vice versa?

To the ppl comparing the two versions how can y'all do that?!?! Kelly's version is obviously great but I still prefer the og because I felt the message of the song more in that one. It's supposed to be this calm kinda melody because she's still unsure if the relationship is gonna work with all of the chaos around them.

Kelly is terrific. It's always funny to me that people try and say Taylor isn't the best singer, but when you hear other artists cover her songs you realize how amazing she really is. The spoken word rhythm to her music is unparalleled. Kudos to both the queens here. ❤️❤️

Yeah. Swift isn't the best singer. No "but" follows. She just ain't the best singer. And when you hear great singers like this covering her songs it gets even more obvious. I'm by no means intending to belittle Swift's relevance in our times, either artistically and culturally. You can't be such a huge pop phenomenon without being perfectly structured to be. But a great singer is something else. 😉

I wish there was a longer version on this.

I have mixed opinions about this because you can really feel the vulnerability and worry in Taylor's version but this version is a bop too

People dragging Taylor in the comments don’t realize their favorite artist don’t write their own music and Taylor does. Not all a people who can “belt songs” have the same talent in writing. Also. Kelly did amazing!

Kelly writes a lot of songs.

She rearranged the verses and I was like “this isn’t the song!” But then I realized it was on purpose and I was vibing along 🎶🎶

that's so true. we have a singer here in the Netherlands who covers Kelly and I don't like that either. I still prefer Kelly. same as I think Kelly is an amazing singer. and she did some great cover in Kellyoke. but most time I prefer the original artist and songs.

If I wasn't paying much attention to the song, I would prefer this version. But if I look at the song carefully, it lacks the delicacy and intimacy of the song, which is the whole point so... Ok, I just saw all the comparison between Taylor and Kelly on this song. Why do some of u want to compare when she sings a Taylor Swift songs, but don't compare her to the other artists who sings she sings. I realize theres a lot of SWIFTIES out there, hell I'm on my 50s and I'm one. Hell, no one can touch Taylor when it come to writing a song. She gets better and better each time. FOLKLORE was out of this world. Kelly Clarkson writes well also, but we all know, she a hell of a singer. Kelly's version is nice but I prefer taylors soft and and lower vocals. This is a song that's meant to be the low whispers of your inner monologue not the out of the woods style. Even as a taylor and Kelly fan it has nothing to do with vocal ability it's about being able to bring forward the very best in a song THAT is what makes a singer. Think about Dolly Parton singing I will always love you. Fantastic, but a good portion don't even realize she wrote it because the story and life Whitney Houston brought out. Karen Carpenter sang Close to You, Superstar, and even Ticket to Ride all were sung by previous people but didn't become a hit til the way she sang it. Even so much a Beatle said something about it. Being a singer is about much more than being able to hit notes have proper form and range. If you're not telling the song it's not making you feel anything but volume difference, you're just making noise going with the motion. Singing is no different than playing a harp a guitar a piano a violin it has feelings it moves not every song needs to be overdone and complex.

Singers and vocalists are a dime a dozen now a days just watch AGT, The Voice, and The American Idol, but and artists can only keep going for success if he or she can create new songs. That’s why Taylor is on top of my list because creating lyrics and melodies with emotions is where the heart and brain. Like I said anybody can belt out their pipes but if there’s no song…. Thing is, you can tell that Kelly Clarkson was having difficulty staying on the low key that Taylor sings. Because Taylor can go quite low and Kelly can go quite high. Although Taylor still has a range and can go high too maybe not as high as Kelly but that doesn’t make her any less of an artist and Kelly will tell you that. More ranges are awesome, but she will tell you the fact that Taylor writes all of her own stuff, often willingly sings it on her own without auto tune acoustically, but also produces and directs most of her own videos, songs, shows, etc. and still comes out on top is no easy feat either and is even perhaps more impressive than a wide vocal range.
