Vince Vance and Troy Powers are the co-writers of this song. This is what Troy posted today... "I would like to give a Big shout out and Thanks to Kelly Clarkson. Today she released her version of our song (Vince Vance & the Valiants) All I Want For Christmas Is You. When we first released it in 1989, some Djs told us every Christmas Classic had already been written. 31 years later, we’re still on the radio. Sammy Kershaw, Leann Rimes and others have done versions as well. I honestly believe that we paved the way for other songwriters to realize that there are still many Christmas Classics to be written. Here's some history. This is a cover of the Vince Vance and the Valiants song All I Want For Christmas is You which was released in 1989. It was the original. Mariah's team then comes in in the mid 90s and thought it was a good idea and not confusing at all to name a completely different song in a very niche genre the same exact title as the Vince Vance song.

This title is basic and has been used half a dozen times. The two songs have nothing in common with each other - whether that be composition, instrumentation, lyrics, vocals, or genre - except for being Christmas songs that are vaguely about love lol. Now what you should be worrying about is how Vince Vance basically copied My Heart Belongs to Only You (1964) note for note in their "version", but you don't truly care about originality in music lmao you're just bitter that a country act you like was outshined by a pop diva.
