For now it's in a soft case in the trunk of vehicle. Summer will probably take it out and stick with my edc only.

How does red dot lose zero when opening and closing? It's attached to the barrel half, just the firing pin and breech face are on the rear half.

I zeroed day 1. Day 2 I was able to hit paper but was off bullseye by a few clicks. Day 3 was the same. My thought is there's the slightest bit of play somewhere in the locking system. Or maybe it's just how much pressure I hold on the gun.

Why does having to slam it open affect the zero and the recoil don’t? The reason I was asking I’m looking to buy one and would hate to have to zero it every time I opened it. Could it just be the red dot sight you’re using?

I think the issue is that there is the slightest bit of wiggle in the hinge' So unless you have it marked it's not going back to the exact same spot. My opinion is wasn't made to be a precision shooter. But it is good enough to stay on paper. Keep in mind also this could have been just the gun I was shooting.

The manual for the gen 3 only says - "The SUB2000 is a semi-automatic rifle chambered for the 9mm Luger cartridge". A friend of mine reached out to Kel tec on the Gen 2 a while back and there response was "Aluminum cased is not unsafe unless it's Plus p ammo. Only brass cased is recommended".

Best to avoid aluminum cases in Blowback guns. They do not expand like brass and steel and lack the structural strength so there is more likelihood the case will release from the chamber and hang un supported while pressure is still too high from firing that round and kaboom the Gun. Guns with some sort of locking lug design are more likely to be OK with it because there is a mechanism there to keep the action closed until pressure is down.

Pretty sure it says right on the website NOT to use aluminum cased ammo. Regardless it looks really fun to shoot. My question is how sore are your shoulders after shooting 200 rounds 😂 Also what if you just ran a laser on it in addition to a Red Dot?

  • @Scott67

Hi Sir. The manual only says - "The SUB2000 is a semi-automatic rifle chambered for the 9mm Luger cartridge. A friend of mine reached out to Kel tec on the Gen 2 a while back and there response was "Aluminum cased is not unsafe unless it's Plus p ammo. Only brass cased is recommended". Now to your questions. My shoulder was not sore at all. It does kick more than I like and you learn pretty quick how firmly to hold the gun. As far as sights, it depends on your needs. For home defense and fun at the range, a red dot and a laser is a great combo. For "bugging out" I would want a red dot and iron sights. Hope this helpful.
