I actually remember that TV broadcast. For the sake of artistic imbalance, there was also a different line: Kekkonen, Kekkonen, Kekkonen, Kekkonen, Westerholm! Raino Westerholm got 25 (or 26) votes.

Ei ollut ulkomaan velkaa kun otettiin velka omasta keskuspankista. Infra rakennettiin ja tehtaita nousi joka kuntaan. Koulutus ja terveydenhuolto kehittyi. Samoilla vauhdeilla on menty siihen asti kun nuorenpolven "tunarit" möivät suomen halvemmalla mitä idiootilta olisi odottanut.

I believe there was a commercial based on this, but I don't remember what for. I remember they were counting votes (Kekkonen, Kekkonen, Kekkonen...) and in the end said something like: "Why bother choosing?" or "Why choose anything else?". Anyone else remember?

Probably the least dictatorish dictator. Sure was a good president. Almost like Putin, but with less invading.

The politicians standing there were by far better and more intelligent than those corresponding today in Finland. "kekkonen" was Harri Holkeri (right party), next to chair was Kalevi Sorsa (socialist), Ele Alenius, only still alive (communist/socialists) and J. Virolainen (central).

+Aaron Ward Essentially president Kekkonen being chosen by the Finnish equivalent of the electoral college in the US. After 1988 there are no more electors in Finland and instead the Finnish president is directly elected by the people.
