I don't remember exactly when, but there's a crazy story about an odd reunion in a Hotel between Brian Wilson, Alice Cooper and Iggy Pop and how Alice Cooper and Iggy left the Hotel because they were completely estranged by the erratic behaviour of Wilson trying to demonstrate them how he wanted to make a musical work with crystal glasses. I think it was a meritorious achievement and it was maybe on that time during the early 70s, when Brian Wilson left his 2 year reclussion in his own bed.

Moon, ever the 1970s Long John Silver cosplayer (as seen in "The Kids Are Alright"), was there when "Yellowbeard" was conceived. If it hadn't been for his poor health (and death), he might have starred. Would've also been interesting in more recent days to see him as Captain Jack Sparrow's "Uncle Ernie."

Keith's best friend in the Beatles was Ringo Starr and they constantly played pranks on each other. I would fully expect this award to have been booby trapped by the time it made it back to the The Beatles

Absolutely brilliant!! The world is a much darker place without Mr. Moon in it.

Queen is my favorite band, and Roger Taylor one of the all time top drummers, but Keith Moon is my favorite drummer.

Keith moon makes me think of Dudley​ Moore

I loved the late Keith Moon, he was very sociable and funny. He never took himself seriously and for a man of immense talent, that is to be admired because there are many talented musicians in the music business who are egomaniacs and think they have to be taken seriously. Also, I think it's appropriate that the Beatles chose Keith Moon to pick up their award.

Keith Moon is my inspiration.

@@dannyvine3605 No, it is 1976. The Rock Awards in Los Angeles. And noone remembers why they got it. Not best album or group, because those were won by Fleetwood Mac.

If you want the real inside story on Keith's amazing life I can recommend "Dear Boy - The Life of KEITH MOON" by Tony Fletcher. He was never gonna reach his 70s :-)

I-m currently halfway through it. Well, actually it was also a sad life. This guy needed psychiatric help and, who knows, maybe, hadn-t he been successful, he wouldn-t have died before he got old. A sad story.

Was that Alice Cooper making faces at Keith at the end? I seen footage talking about them being part of a drinking club called "The Hollywood Vampires" Which Alice uses to describe the band he is in today. Cool man!!

John Lennon was not much of a drinker. He could not handle his drink; got drunk very quickly and was a very aggressive drunk. There is an interview with Keith Richards where he says exactly the same thing.

@@seekingwisdom8 I don't think he was insane either. He was a human with a peculiar nature and energy. I certainly know personally myself it would have been impossible to live the life he did. If I had I would have been dead in my early 20's.

There could have been no one else to accept the award for them. Keith and Ringo were great friends. RIP Keith, legend.

I’ll actually be 30 in a few months, guess one of the many typos in that original comment was my age, and I can spell much better now too 😅 Still a massive fan of Moonie though 🤘 went all the way to London to pay my respects to the man at his burial site

boz scaggs and natalie cole presenting , hall of fame award , at 2nd annual , Rock Music Awards show (1976) diana ross and alice cooper were the hosts (the show only lasted 3 years)

I assume that was in 73 or 74, after the release of the Beatles' Red and Blue albums. I guess the hosts were delighted that Keith did not turn up dressed as Hermann Goring, which he occasionally did in that period...:-)

@@juliebyrne2533 It must be 1976 or later because, at the end, Alice Cooper is doing an impression of John Cleese's French knight in 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail', which wasn't released until May 75 I just checked. It looks like it's from a short-lived awards show called 'The Rock Music Awards', which only existed from 75 to 77. This is from the 1976 awards show, hosted by Diana Ross and Alice Cooper (see last few seconds) I can't work out what the Beatles were being honored for though

Back when I was 15 me and my buds listened to basically what I listen to now. The Who, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Rush, King Crimson, Dream Theater, Led Zeppelin, etc. etc. Some bands just live forever, and for good reason.

I find this sad, because Keith said one time he always felt he had to act crazy, he always had to be "on". Jimi Hendrix after awhile HATED setting his guitar on fire and singing the same songs. There's always the darker side, which can lead to severe depression, and sometimes early death.

That was SO AWESOME! Greatest acceptance ever.

What an amazing time I hope I'm reborn in that time!

Judging from Brian Wilson's appearance at the beginning of the clip, this has to be either 1976 or 1977. Maybe they won something for the "Rock & Roll Music" compilation, or the "Got To Get You Into My Life" single. No Moonie for the last 30 years means rock doesn't have that lunatic edge.
